Smile garden composting - in pots

so this came from another thread where we were talking about "community living" and i wanted to post a separate thread to ask what recommendations ya'll have for a "not noticeable" composting in ceramic (is that a good idea) planters for my (really small) garden?

the garden is about 6 feet wide by about 2 feet deep - so it's long, but skinny.

i feel guilty about the food that can seemingly be wasted (scraps of food, etc) - and want to add nutrients to our soil w/out having to buy so many bags of new soil or plant food.

can i do this in a few small flower pots? i dont want it to be noticeable, as we're not really supposed to compost.

    ideas and recommendations are welcome.

    thanks!

This is what I found, maybe you could disguise it somehow. http://www.wikihow.com/Build-a-Compost-Bin

I just remembered that a H Depot employee told me trash bins are good for compost because you can strongly attach the lid ,then roll the bins in the drive way.... for faster composting.
