    Default Fabulous Ice Tea

I used to order the most delicious ice tea at a restaurant I frequented. They wouldn't tell me the exact recipe but did tell me the flavors of tea they used. I experimented quite a bit and came up with a very close replica:

    2 bags cinnamon tea
    2 bags peppermint tea
    2 bags orange spice tea
    1 bag black tea

Add tea bags to 3 quarts (12 cups) of simmering water. Steep for 9 minutes. Sweeten with Splenda as desired. Chill and serve over ice.

Interesting. Do you actually simmer it for 9 minutes or do you turn the heat off when you add the teabags?

    Sari,
I turn the heat off once the water starts to simmer. Then I throw in the tea bags and allow them to just sit in the water for 9 minutes. My husband was drinking large amounts of diet soda before I convinced him that the iced tea is so much healthier (and much cheaper...). The next batch I do I'm going to throw in some green tea as well and hope it does not change the flavor too much.

I lg pitcher full of water (mine are gallon)

8 bags regular orange pekoe tea bags

allow to sit in sun until steeped. Add 1/4 c vanilla syrup. (vs plain sugar)

It comes out wonderful and of course you can up the amt of syrup.

This does sound good. I've never made ice tea with anything but the plain teabags. I enjoy a good cup of hot tea and have used the ones you use for your ice tea in my hot tea. I've never really thought about using all those together and making ice tea. Thanks for the recipe. Let us know how it tastes when you add the green tea.

Thanks! I always enjoy a nice flavorful tea that doesn't require adding sweetener.

Ooh, that sounds good! Here's my usual method for making iced tea--you might want to take notes, because people often comment on how good it is:

    1. Put 4 tea bags in 2 qt. pitcher
    2. Fill with hot tap water
    3. Place in fridge

I either heat tea using my 4 c coffee maker(I don't drink coffee but have it just incase someone is visiting who does) and I can take a tea bag in a mug and make a cup at a time. I also have a tea maker(the 3qt maker-9 tea bags per pitcher-also I don't add ice I just fill pitcher w 3 qt water and add more water into back when it has finished draining into pitcher, but I like my tea strong),I had to get a new pitcher though because after 5+ yrs of continuous use they finally did that crack down the middle.(the machine came w 2) I've wondered if I can seal the crack w some sort of silicone substance...not to use for tea making cause of heat, but for water transporting.

The tea formula sounds interesting...I've always liked standard black tea and green tea primarily ,but drink the occasional celestial seasoning tea.
