    Default Luffa Sponge

    I grew luffa gourds this past summer. With the big move to across the state and everything that goes along with that I just got around to peeling them. I'm so excited. I have tons of seeds to plant this year.

    I only have three nice sponges but that is plenty enough for me to cut into small sections to use in the kitchen and bath. My hope for the future is to grow enough to sell the seeds and sponges. I can also make gifts.

    I want to learn how to make soap. It will be cool to put a slice of the sponge in them. Fun... I can't wait to start this new project!

    did you get the seeds and how do they grow? I don't have a lot of room. Is it a bush? This is cool! I would love to grow loofahs!

    I never even knew loofah was GROWN! Not sure I ever thought about where it came from. That's pretty cool.

    I bought some seeds from an online store. I have pleanty if any of you would like to give it a try. The grow on vines and have nice flowers. The gourds grow large and are really cool. I found a site that has some information and photos.

    I absolutely love those things. Years ago my Dad grew tons of them. (He pased in 1984), and I am still using ones he grew. No one else wanted them, so I took them all (a huge garbage bag full). I cut them into about 4" size. I have even added them to B & B gifts. Little did daddy know that I would enjoy the fruits of his labors for so many years.
    It's kind of like a hug, eveytime I use one. Thanks Daddy!!!!!!!!!
