Default Question: Reuseable Grocery bags (How to make)

I want to make some reuseable grocery bags to take with me to the store. What fabric could I use besides canvas? Of course I want something durable and washable.

    HELP!

The reusable bags are only $.99 each at my stores. Might be cheaper to buy them, although I have thought it would be fun to make them, and if you already have all the stuff that would make it free.

~I used a cotton/poly flat twin sheet that got on clearance for $3. I got six bags out of it and they're much roomier than the $1 ones the stores sell(prettier too!). I've washed them many times over the last 4 years and they're still going strong.~
