Default I need a crock pot recipe

I'm hosting a party on Saturday and am trying to find food that doesn't need to be cooked on the grill. its supposed to be 90 degrees and I don't want to be tied to the grill.

I'm ordering a cold cut platter and I'm going to do pulled pork in the crock pot. I feel like I need one more "meat" dish. I'm also going to have about 4 different "salads".

Also if you can think of any no cook appetizers other than veggies and dip I'd be grateful. (I think the heat would "melt" the dip)

What about spiral wraps with ham and a flavored cream cheese?

Did you need another meat dish for the crockpot? If so you could do bratwurst or some type of sausage. Another alternative is to cook chicken in the crockpot much like you would the pork, with barbecue sauce and shred it for sandwiches. A beef roast also cooks up great for sandwiches if you cook it in the crockpot with a jar of pepperocini (don't drain it first) or a spicky pickled vegetable mix (don't drain this first either).

Are there other adults coming who could take over grill duty? Some people like that job. You could do hot dogs or brats which are cooked and just need to be heated on the grill and won't take long.

    Appetizers:

    salsa and chips
    nuts
    melon slices
    shrimp cocktail (get precooked shrimp)
    deviled eggs
    good olives
Use it up, Wear it out,
Make it do, Or do without. ~unknown

    Crockpot: chili, meatballs in sauce

Cold Appy: finger sammies: cuc & cream cheese, spinach dip w/chunks of pumpernickel served along side, hummus & pita chips, chips & salsa.

For the dips that need to stay cold: place the bowls of dip in a slightly larger bowl full of ice and nestle it in so all sides are chilled. Change out the bowl of ice when you notice its melted and don't put all of the dip out at once. Use small bowls and refill. Another option I've seen: a large rectangular planter box filled with ice and several smaller bowls nestled in it. The put all the things you can dip into it in front of the dips on the table. Was pretty neat actually.

I like ranch beans. Tons of recipies on the web for it. My favorite has 3 different beans, onion, brown sugar, ketchup mustard and hamburger. All cheap ingredients. Plus it is filling. I never get complaints.

How about doing a tomato and bacon pasta salad? You could cook it up early that morning (or even the day before) by frying some bacon chunks, adding garlic and herbs, an onion, some tomato paste or passata and then some cooked pasta. People can help themselves to it, and it doesn't have to be served hot

For a meat, do bbq lil' smokies or pieces of sausage in the crockpot, or cocktail meatballs. For a cool appetizer, what about fruit, cheese, and ham on toothpicks?
