Default Anyone else a corn-on-the-cob freak?

OMG, this time of year is pure bliss for me. I LOVE sweet corn, and so does dh. We have it almost every night while it's in season! Our neighborhood farmer's market has tons of BIG ears, yet sweet.

    Pig heaven for me.

LOVE IT too! Its not as much of a bargain as it used to be during prime corn season so we still eat it according to sales.

I'm a corn on the cob purist normally - just boil & serve. Though I did try mixing this mayo based condiment on it and found it quite enjoyable - Ive tried it on freshly heated niblets too

Mix together mayonnaise, chili powder, garlic salt, and black pepper. Brush on freshly cooked corn (boiled, grilled etc) and squeeze lime juice over top. DELISH!

Love it but have a hard time finding it really fresh. I stop at a farm stand and ask when it was picked and I get a funny look and "Oh that doesn't matter, it's still good, look...."

When I was younger I remember buying it right from the farmer, picked that morning, sooooo goood! I would go home and eat 6 ears of corn and nothing else for dinner.

DH isn't supposed to eat corn now, because of his blood sugar.

OMG, corn on the cob and a warm tomato right off the vine, thats a fantastic dinner for me every night of the week! I adore fresh corn, boiled, broiled, grilled it is all good!

The best memory I have is visiting Minnesota and being invited to the corn roasts, I would be in seventh heaven the entire 2 weeks I was there, oh yum!

Libby---I'm a purist, too......just boiled for me, no 'toppings'. Dh likes butter. THat mayo thing sounds interesting! Dh went through a phase for awhile where he put lime juice and pepper on his corn. A friend turned him on to it. And NO---it really isn't a bargain anymore. I try to cut back in other ways in our meal.

Luckybustert--yeah, we aren't supposed to be having so much carbs (dh) but we put that on hold for corn season. LOL.

Contraryhousewife---yeah, I've seen some really OLD looking corn in our supermarkets. You can tell when the husks look old and dry and wrinkly, and the 'topknot' is dried up. DH isn't supposed to be having much corn either, but he insists there are 5 things he WILL eat even if it shortens his life---corn on the cob, his grandmother's cookies, her hobblegrits (like scrapple), her potato salad, and her stuffing for turkey. LOL. Luckily fir him, corn doesn't effect his BS very much.

oheoh's momma---another interesting mix! I haven't liked it grilled very much. I guess I like food the way my momma fixed it. I should try grilling again sometime and see if I've changed my mind.
    You never know.

pinetree---YES! Corn WITH sliced tomatoes is summer heaven for me, too! We had a fairly big garden when I was a kid, and the taste of the two together ....I can close my eyes and go back 45 years.....mmmmm. I think what would really be heaven is to have corn and tomatoes sitting in a humid free environment like Colorado! Seems like everywhere corn grows, it's soooo hot and humid. Like Ohio. I remember DH and I going through (and camping in) CO on our honeymoon. Such nice cool humid-free nights (and days).

OMG--I almost forgot to tell you guys about the biggest corn freak at our house. My MIL's little poodle! (we care for her now)

She LOVES corn. It's hilarious! She whines and begs (we thought she wanted our meat) and cries till dh finally handed her a cob with a few kernels left on it. She took it over to the newspaper her dishes are on, and cleaned it off! Then she whines for more! She's a hoot!

Dog definitely loves living with us corn fanatics.

I really like corn on the cob. There haven't been too many good deals on it around here though. We have some growing, but it will be several more weeks before it is ready and then we will be up to our eyeballs in corn.

Yes! I spent most of my childhood in Nebraska and I even corn detassled in Iowa for a summer. My favorite way to eat corn is grilled with the husks on.

Unfortunately in Europe, they see corn as animal feed so it's hard to come by big, sweet ears of corn. Or if they are in the stores, they're expensive and they're not that good. I make do with frozen corn on the cob for now

    Corn lover here too!
We buy it at our friend's stand, never in the grocery store.
And we're always in charge of bringing the corn at parties this time of year
I also like it boiled served plain.
We usually have one corn dinner a week, I like to eat only that for dinner when we have it.

My wife is going to visit her family next weekend. It's corn harvesting time, and some family friends are allowing some people to pick as much as they want before the harvesters show up. Pick as much as you want. We'll be eating a lot of corn, and freezing quite a bit, too.
