What can I do with stale fancy crackers?
Hi -
I have a 1.5 pound box of stale fancy crackers that I bought for a cheese tray and they were never served. There are six varieties of crackers:
plain
water
vegetable
wheat
8 grain and seeds
cornbread
All I can think of is to feed them to the birds or maybe making breakcrumbs? Is there anythig I can make with these?
Does anyone have any ideas? I hate to throw them out.
Thanks!

lay them out on a sheet pan (maybe in batches) and put them in a low oven (300 ish) for about 10 minutes. As they cool they ought to crisp right up.

Can you crush them up and use them in place of breadcrumbs?

Yeah use in place of breadcrumbs. Bread chicken with them. Top casseroles with them for a crunch. Contrary's idea sounds cool! Never tried it tho.

I have used CH idea in small batches...........try it.
By 'stale'........do you mean just past the exp. date on the box?............or 'soggy'?...........or do they TASTE stale?........big difference on what you do with them
If past date on box................no problem! If they have never been opened they will probably still be good......taste one.
If you live in high humidity area.........where crackers get 'soggy'.........then CH idea should work........if they don't 'taste stale'..........
If they taste stale then more limited,...........try making a small batch into SEASONED bread crumbs, see if it turns out to taste okay. If really bad, (as in going rancid or just YUK)..........I say feed the birds!
I have been able to eat crackers 6 months past the exp. date on box cause they were still sealed, never opened, and I don't live in high humidity area.
When I open crackers I not only tightly roll up the package, but put a rubber band around it too, as the package will unroll in the box. TIGHTLY SEALED items keep longer.

If they taste stale, I would just dump them (or birds, if they want them). If they are just out-of-date, they should be OK if not opened. If they are soft, crisp in oven.

Opened cereal/chips/crackers go in the fridge or freeze at my house. It keeps them fresher longer.

Thanks for the ideas. They are still sealed and they look good. I am going to make bread crumbs with them and bread some chicken and see how it goes.
thanks again : )
