LexTysMommy - does the metra out of Chicago run over that far? We love taking the train in on the weekends. The metra train is unlimited rides for $5 per person on the weekends and the kids can ride free with us! So for $10, we can ride all weekend! We love it!
Yes the metras last stop is kenosha. That is where I live. It is unlimited on weekend which is great for us. If we leave at 8am then we can get to chicago by 10 and get back on train at 6 and back before 8. Its very nice. We do it a couple times a year!
Hi! Moved here to Ramsey Il. from Ca. five years ago. Love it here in Illinois!! Been doing frugal since my husband retired and it has become a way of life.
DH and I met when we were in college in Lincoln. How long ago you say?
Let's just say that there were only four channels on the TV, and phones had rotary dials - and cords!
I went to LPN school in Springfield - at the Capital Area Vocational Center. Wonder if it still exists?
It does indeed still exist - it has joined with Lincoln Land now, so you get a certificate of achievement or something like that, when you get your LPN.
Did you go to Lincoln Christian College or Lincoln College? I have family that graduated from both!
I am originally from east central Illinois. About 30 miles champaign- Urbana. I also have family from the southern Illinois. But now I live in the state of Kansas.
I grew up in Morris (near Joliet), and now live about 20/30 minutes straight east from Chicago. I spend most of my time in Mt Prospect/Rolling Meadows area though. c:
Born in Princeton up in North Central IL but for now I live down between Springfield and St. Louis.
In a few months we're moving to Indianapolis.
