Son just left for Great Lakes!
Well, here's another group I can identify with! My only bio son left on Sunday for Great Lakes naval. He is suppose to go to San Diego after this for SO (seals). I got my phone call last night (you know "I'm here and I'm safe"). I'm feeling out of sorts because this is his dream not one I have ever imagine him having.
I have to deal with my own feelings and not let them interfere with my relationship with my son. Oh, well, right now I'm just praying for all of our sons and daughters during these times.

Wow. Navy seals. That would be a tough one.
I don't have anything like that going on, but my oldest son (24) is across the country from me, and has been for 2-1/2 years. I miss his face and miss getting my arms around him. He is having trouble getting a job (now that he's done with school) in his field. So he is thinking of going into the armed services. I respect his thinking, but it worries me.______

wow, the special forces is a very ambitious goal! My nephew just left Great Lakes, but is now stationed in FL, we're going to see him next weekend. Good luck to your son. It'm sure it's hard with him gone (our nephew was like a son to us), but it does get a bit better over time, especially once they are out of basic training and you can talk to them often.

Well my youngest is in the Navy too. He will be going to the gulf Dec 1st...... When he comes back he will be training for seals. Him and his roommates...... He says there will be a need for more special forces when obama takes offices. I have had 4 of my kids go military. We have a lot to be proud of with our children, spouses, or parent that are protecting us.........
FernYes I'm out of my mind. It's a dark and scary place in there.

Well, the worst part this week was not being able to pick up the phone and talk to him. And of course, that just got worst when they shipped back home his clothes!
My son was a personal trainer before he left, so really physically I believe he can do anything they throw at him, but emotionally??? Aww well, just his mama talking out loud. He will do well in anything he puts his mind to. And thank you all for remembering him in your prayers.
