Default Campaign to support military families

The first lady is ramping up support.

As a down payment, the White House released a list of companies and groups that already have signed on to the effort. For example, Best Buy's Geek Squad will help military families use technology to connect with loved ones who are deployed, Sears and WalMart will offer transfers to military spouses who have to move, and the national PTA will expand efforts to help military children adjust to new schools.

And I hope every bit of it works great.

With all the crap going on they will be deployed many times and it has to be very stressful on EVERYONE in the family.

    I feel for them all!

I'm grateful that she is doing this. I often feel like military families get screwed, many times over.

I remember sitting in the debriefing meetings when Zac was coming home and everything was about how to help the soldier adjust, how to do this for the soldier and that for the soldier. Never was there any mention of things that we could do to make the transition of the soldier being home easier for us.

Don't get me wrong--I realize it's hard for the soldiers coming home. I just think the military and the FRG never makes an effort to realize that while it's joyful for the family to have them home, it's hard for us and takes adjustments for us as well.
