Default Not sure if everyone knows

    this or not.
When you tie your yellow ribbons on your flag poles remember to put it UNDER the flag.

The only ribbon that should be above the flag is a BLACK one when we have fallen Troups. And then it should be at least 6 inches longer than your flag.

I got so confused on this when 911 happened, but dh made sure I remembered.
    Just wanted to share.

    God Bless our Troups

Thank you for the reminder, I try to do the right thing when it comes to the flag, I put a spotlight on it so I wouldn't have to keep putting it up and taking it down. Sometimes, it can get confusing.

My flag is out 24/7 now. I don't have a spotlight on it though I know the rule. I figure our troops are out in the middle of the desert in the dark so my flag will be out in the dark until this war is over. Then I will start bringing it in at dusk again and putting it out in the morning. Just my little way of showing my support for our troops.

The Yellow ribbon shows your support. The Black one represents the fallen soldiers.

The Black one sould be Silk or Sateen according to DH. I didn't know that.

It's to show support for the troops and praying for them to come home safely. It's not a war supportive ribbon.
There are many different support groups that have yellow ribbon "campaigns".
    Here are a few:

    http://www.operationyellowribbon.org/
    http://ojc.org/yribbon.htm

I think of it as a way to honor them.
