Hearts Apart

Mel et al,
For all you ladies going through deployment seperation now and in the future, does your base/post/camp have a Hearts Apart program? Or something similar? Go to family support and ask the question. I know here at McGuire we do and the spouses get together monthly and do things like have dinners and take day trips. They also provide support and services while your loved one is deployed. You should be able to provide them your e-mail and they will keep you posted of upcoming events. Hope this helps!

They do have support groups for those on ships but with the SEAL teams they don't have a support group and I don't know why. They don't call it hearts apart (that is such a cute name) they are called wives club or a support club. No creative names here.

The AF comes up with the best names! LOL. We don't have an offical FRG (Family Readiness Group) at our unit. EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) is really small. We have about 10 wives (no husband spouses currently) and they don't all get along. I have been nominated to "lead" our non-existant FRG because I have the most training. (Does the Air Force have AFTB yet? I know they were working on something like it)

When my husband was deployed, we had monthly meetings. But because I lived so far away from where his unit was based, it was really hard to get to know anyone. They did answer a lot of questions though.
