Need Information, don't know where to look

My oldest daughter has been dating someone who is in the National Guard Reserves. His unit was called into training in Louisiana and will most likely be called into Iraq very soon. Needless to say, she is afraid and broken hearted.

Last night we were talking and she was so upset. I tried to talk sensibly to her and told her that not every soldier who fights this war will be killed. Then she reminded me of something. When she was in middle school, her class wrote to a unit during Operation Desert Storm. "Her" soldier wrote many times and she became very attached to him, then one day the letters just stopped. She never heard from him again. She cried so hard for him and for Arthur, I felt so helpless.

Then I got to thinking, do any of you with military background know how to look for someone who was in the military? I have his name and rank at the time. He was obviously a marine because she said he ended every letter with Semper Fi (hope I spelled that right)

I'm sorry for your daughters pain Robin. This is tough stuff indeed.

Her boyfriend will be in my thoughts.

Darlene, I was going through the list and how sad at the bottom for the one missing soldier.

I went to military.com and searched for the last name Kimmet it gave me 2 Daniel L. Kimmet's both in the Marines (do you know if "L" was his middle inital.

Anyway, all it had was his Dept. Of Def. Record which was just his name rank and branch of service. It had a listing for home but it said "unknown"

It let me do a search on US SEARCH and for free it listed 52 Daniel Kimmets, but there were 7 Daniel L. Kimmets. Do you know where he was originally from? Or is approximate age?

Of the 7 Daniel L. Kimmet's the only one listed in the "white Pages" directory on MSN was one that was living in Lima, OH and his age was listed as 46 on the US SEARCH web page.

Sorry I couldn't find anymore infor for ya. There was one age 34 listed on US SEARCH in Cherry Point NC which is where the military base is located but he wasn't listed.

I am sending prayers for your daughter and for her friend's safety, I will say a prayer that they do not get deployed to Iraq also. I am so sorry that she is hurting and worried.

Oh Robin - I'm so sorry to report that I wasn't able to find him for you.....I agree that maybe start with searches in newspapers from his hometown or something..... I'm sorry to let you down.....
