Default Where are all the spouses?

I have been a military wife for 7 years and a brat for the 18 yrs prior. I am raising my 2 soon (to be 3) brats here in Tx. DH is currently at Ft. Hood, but is PCSing in Aug. for Korea - again. Kids and I are staying here though. I have always found it to be very comforting to speak to other military wives. I love my husband and I am very proud of what he does, but there are days when it doesn't seem like anyone understands exactly what it is we go through. I'm not trying to complain, I certainly got into this with my eyes open, but you know, there are just THOSE days. I hope this becomes an active area. We need each other.

I saw that you are in Temple and am wondering if and how often you travel to Ft. Hood to go to the commisary? (there is a case lot sale this weekend if you do shop there)

    Hi audpodge,
I like down the road a bit from you, in Round Rock.

Thanks for being one of the many wives that support their spouses in their military career.

I am an army brat, my ex-husband was in the Marines before I met him, and I married my husband 6 months before he retired from the air force. My son-in law was in the navy.. hmm.. is that all of the military branches??

carrottop the case sale at Fort Hood is THIS weekend? Commisary.com said it was the 21 and 212nd. I appreciate the info. What kind of prices are on the case sale? Is there a good time to go that will not be swamped?

I am in Germany right now but we are from Texas. My cousin and her husband just left Ft. Hood. I really liked it down there. I love Round Rock! Ya'll got a new Krispy Kreme place last summer didn't you? I really miss Krispy Kreme's! I can't get good doughnuts over here.
My husband is gone right now. He left Saturday but he will be back this Friday or Saturday. So it was a short one. But this is the first time he has gone anywhere since we moved to Germany. I have really enjoyed having the car whenever I wanted it. We only have one car over here. I guess that is all I am going to say. I am really glad that I founf this group!

    Hi lucy979,
Actually I am in the middle of doughnut paradise. About a half a mile south is Krispy Kreme, and about a mile or so north is Round Rock Doughnuts (for those who are unawere, the Round Rock doughnut is "world Famous".

Good thing I don't eat doughnuts often or I would be larger than I am

I liked the time I was in Germany.. I was 12 and 13, got a chance to go from Mannheim to Berlin on a train with a youth group, .. saw the Berlin wall.. rode a riverboat on the Rhine.. saw a few castles.

    How is Germany now?

It is more beautiful than I thought it would be. We have not gotten to travel much yet. The weather and being new have put a hamper on that. We hope to travel more in the future. OH, to have a good doughnut!!!!!!!!!

    Bevv,
OMG it is CarrotCake not Carrottop. I can't stand him. He is soooooo not funny. (looks an awful lot like my brother though and he is not funny either)

Anyway, I thought this weekend was the 21 and 22. Glad you caught that. I guess I am ready for this month to be over already.

As far as a good time to come, we have two commisaries on post. They alternate which one host the case lot sale each month. I am not sure which one it is at this month. (I have a coffee tommorrow and will ask if anyone knows) I noticed the last couple of sales were lots of convenience type foods. You can pretty good deals on canned veggies, paper products and cereal.
The sales are pretty crowded no matter when you go.

Something else to keep in mind. If your vehicle does not have a DOD sticker on it, you have to use certain gates and get a temporary pass.

Oh yeah and if the sale is at the Clear Creek Commisary, the thrift shop is right there too, so you can kill two birds with one stone.

    Opps Sorry CarrotCake
info I found on case sale at

    http://www.commissaries.com/stores/h...page=spotlight

    It is confusing
Says there will be a director's sale 21 and 22 at Warrior Way
Director's sale 28 and 29 at Clear Creek

and then says director's sale at both locations on June 21 and 22.

does director'sa sale = case sale?

I do have a sticker on my car (from randolph air force base) so am okay there.

    lucy979,
    Glad you are enjoying it.

My hsuband had a female co-worker who married a soldier, he was transfered to Germany, she moved there and stayed 3 months and moved back without her husband.

For her the pay was 1/4 what she was making here for doing the same job or more. Her husband was working 12 hour shifts most of the time, so it was not worth it to her to stay.

germany is on my list of travel places one day

Hello to all. My family and I just moved to Sheppard AFB about three months ago. My husband is in the Air Force and will be an instructor here. Our girls are having the hardest time adjusting. My girls are 6, 5, and 4 (in two weeks). We moved here from Italy after spending 5.5 years there. My youngest two were born there. Anyways, I am new to trying to be frugal and was wondering if any of you might have any great ideas, especially being military. Thanks

    Beth

Hi, Beth. I am from Wichita Falls! How do you like it so far? I know it is not Italy but it is a nice to place to live. My cousin and her husband are stationed at Sheppard, too. He is only there taking a course, though. I really like Once Upon a Child. It is a second hand children's store and the owner is really picky about what she will take so you can find lots of good clothes there. It is on Kemp behind Olive Garden. If you need any other recommendations you can email me at lacimiller@hotmail.com.
