Default Military life is sooooo different

Than what we're used to at least.

Doug slept on the floor of the USO in Pensacola FL last night.
They shipped him off the base, as his orders say he's done there. .
but the plane tickets they bought him to go to his next base don't
leave until this morning morning! Technically the USO there closes at
night. . . .but Doug managed to coherce someone into locking him in
for the night-- so he didn't have to pay for a hotel room last night.

Today, when he gets to CA (after over 12 hours of
flight/layovers=== Pensacola, Houston, LA, Fresno) he has to fork out
$150 for a taxi ride from Fresno to Lemoore! Unbelieveable. . . .

I agree, unbelievable. Hope he enjoys his new assignment and wish him a safe trip.

    Wow- that stinks!

When I was in the Army, they paid for all my transportation. 'Course, I wasn't in long and there wasn't much transportation, so maybe that is why.

When dd came home from Iraq, they outprocessed at Fort Lewis (WA) After about 7 days they were done....orders complete....supposed to fly home that Saturday. Everyone got their travel arrangements except *4* people!!! So, she called and we got them all flights home, self paid. It was either that or sit in Seattle till the following Monday! Crazy! However, Alaska Airlines does give a 50% discount to military The sad part was, they didn't get to be a part of the big welcome with the other 108 that came in on the *army scheduled* flight that day.

Do they not get someone from the gaining unit to pick him up? That's what we do. That said, EOD is not like the regular Army on some things.

    Hope his flight went well.

    Hugs!

Well--- he made it there in one piece. Had a long wait at LA- some sort of delay. . . but thankfully, when he got to Fresno, there was a van headed to the base - so he got a ride for free.

I just think it's appauling that they tossed him out of the Pensacola base- and yet his flight didn't leave til today--- so he was expected to find a room for the night-- UNREIMBURSED.

If he's had to take the cab to the base today--- they'd have reimbursed him. . . .at SOME POINT. He's still waiting to get his money from the cab ride in FL when he reported for duty last Oct.

It can take a long time, but all travel costs are reimbursed
