Miserly Monday, 11/29/10
Well, back to reality! Happy Monday, folks!
All I want to do this morning is stay home and shop online. I know, it's better I go to work and MAKE money instead of spending it, right? lol
I got a lot of stuff done that I needed to yesterday, so that's a great feeling! It snowed all day yesterday, but not enough for me to christen the new snow plow yet. We'll see when I drive the youngest to meet the bus this morning!
I plan on doing some shopping over my lunch break, although for what is the question! Then tonight we are going out to Applebee's to celebrate youngest dd's birthday. She turns 7 tomorrow, but our evening will be packed with the kids' activities, so we are opting to go tonight. Yay, no cooking for me! And she is hoping they sing to her. Honestly, where did this child come from? DH and I are so embarrassed by things like that, but not this one! Sheesh.
Have a great day!

I hope to not spend anything today. I plan on staying home and cleaning. I hope to get my Christmas tree up by the end of the week. I also have to finish setting up my craft corner, I got new shelves put up so I have to get it arranged so I can get some presents made.

Jeanna, I LOVE that avatar!
I have a WM trip to make. And probably stop at my local grocer also, to get decent meat.
Other than that, I'm going to lie low and rest! Sons went home last night, and I'm TIRED.
Maybe knit.______

I have done some cyber shopping online, but used coupons and free shipping. Otherwise staying home and making a few things to but into the craft booth later in the week.

I hope everybody had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! I am at work today and am having a hard time focusing...it is hard to come back after 4 full days off!
I actually got a work-out in before coming in to work today! Yay!
I hope to get a full 8 hours of billable work in today.
Tonight I would like to work on my resume.
That is pretty much my day - nothing too exciting!
Have a great Monday, everybody!

So far today its been rest and relax...had a hectic weekend. Going to bake some b'na bread soon to use up the last few we have, then get dinner going. Probably going to spend some time decluttering tonight since DWTS isn't on anymore. Maybe start working on Christmas Cards...maybe.

I *finally* managed to get my mending done. That's 3 pairs of pants (1 for yoga, 2 for work), 1 pair of socks and 1 spring/fall jacket that have been repaired. The fall jacket is currently in the wash and once its dry, I'm going to go at it with scissors, a pumice stone and a sweater shaver to try and remove all the pilling its accumulated. I'm hoping to get another year out of it and I *know* I won't want to do this maintenance when I dig it out of my closet for spring.
I filled out the paperwork to transfer my tax-free savings account from one institution to another with a higher rate (so easy but one of those things that I've kept putting off).
I've done a bit of decluttering and managed to find the partners for a bunch of mitts that were otherwise destined to be tossed (guess I don't need to buy more mitts this winter after all!!).
Nothing about my day was exciting but I'm so glad that I can cross these things off my to do list.I want to kill my mortgage! 192,391/197,370 (since July 2011)
I'm attempting to live by the principles of The Compact in 2012. Wish me luck!
2012 Financial goals
- make an extra $15k over and above any flying pay (1705/15000)
- pay an extra $1750 off my mortgage (557/1750)
- bring EF back to $10k - $3533 left to save
- avoid lifestyle inflation
- improve investment plan (change accounts) - *grumble grumble* Bank made a mistake, need to re-do paperwork
The Financial Goals I've achieved: increased RSP contribution to $300/mth, posted budget on FV for review, saved $1600 to go on vacation
