    Default Miserly Monday November 21

Off from work this week. Busy day ahead. Got to get bills paid, then off to the doctor for bone density test and mammogram. I might get a little Christmas shopping done if the storms stay away. Then coming home to fix dinner and maybe wrap a few presents.

Had to ship off a package this morning and picked up 3 Christmas presents for youngest (using cash!). Wrapped a few Christmas gifts, working on laundry and light cleaning. Worrying about money (which I always do on Monday), watching DH nap in a chair talking about going to the bank to deposit his check, but too lazy too! Getting ready to start making dinner and figuring how to make this paycheck s-t-r-e-t-c-h!

I did a bunch of errands today... Gas for the car ($34) - ouch!

I'd bought myself a new Bible, but before I could even take it out of the box my mom passed away (last month)...I inherited all of hers. So, returned that one ($36.99) today.

Went to the college for book buy back...got over $300 back! Nice! Deposited that into checking.

Went to the used book store...took books in for credit. Got $26. Used $9 of it for a reference book for school next semester.

Picked up groceries. Instead of just debiting it, I fed handfuls of change from our change jar into the U-Scan first. Only had to debit $8.92 for our groceries this week!

Sold our sofa to a friend...she picked it up today. Will pay us when we see her at Thanksgiving. ($75)

Productive day, so far! I'm waiting for a call back on another item I have on Criagslist... Will do some general cleaning now...and post a few more things on CL.

We had Thanksgiving lunch at work today. Everyone gets burned out on Turkey & dressing if we eat it at work on Monday and have its leftovers on Tuesday and then eat it again on Thanksgiving with our families, sooooooo the company pays for the ingredients and some of our ladies fix red beans with sausage/ham and rice and we also have gumbo. Those who want to can bring a dessert. I was requested to make my cornbread muffins and received many, many compliments. It only cost me $3.23 to make 48 cornbread muffins! The most costly item was the regular buttermilk (versus non-fat) which NEVER goes on sale. The rest I got at great sale prices along the way. Was asked for my recipe by several outsiders and I gave it to them, but told them the key things were full fat buttermilk & that I NEVER put sugar in cornbread.

    Default my miserly Monday

I love these frugal day threads.
Today, I woke up tired and in pain, but I got 2 good periods of sleep last night for 3 hours each. Only had to get up once at 3:30AM for physiotherapy to deal with the muscle spasms of my illness.

Got going after a while this morning. Sudden phone call from landlord, left message saying a plumber was coming at 1PM. So, got dressed, tidied the place, prepped the bathroom...BUT the plumber did not show up.
Had coffee this morning, then read about Nutella on FV, made some Nutella and had breakfast (3 slices of bread with Nutella, 1 banana).
Got to work on my doormat; beautiful sunny day in my bedroom/sewing room, so lots of light for sewing, and I finished it.
Got the laundry done, during intervals. Swept up. Laid out the next rug for next work-time.
Made pancakes, ate them with Nutella for late afternoon snack. For supper, will eat a bowl of homemade spinach soup, with some crackers I got FREE with a free product coupon. Then do dishes. Will put some milk in a few jars to freeze in the fridge-freezer, then thaw for coffee-cream tomorrow. It thaws cream first, then leaves a block of skim-milk ice in the center.
(I had no time or energy for any bread-making today.)

For bedtime, I'm reading: 'To Kill A Mockingbird'. It's been such a long time since I read it, seems like a new book.
How nice to get something finished today, and to have a No Spend Day too.
