June 08 add to emergency fund challenge
I challenge everyone to add a little to the emergency fund in June! Lets brain storm how to get it there and document our progress!
I auto draft $50 weekly but I'll try for more. It looks like dh will be having his knee done so I see storm clouds on the horizon!

I'm in! I've transferred $500 to our EF this month. We've been trying to build it up as much as possible as DH is a contractor and his current contract is up in a couple of months. I want to make sure we're okay if there's any gap!

I'm in for $400. I just set up a transfer for $200 this morning. I'd be able to do more but I have to pay my 6 months car insurance premium this month. I might be able to squeeze an extra $50 for the EF, I'll try my best.
The good news is, as of this week I have 60% of my 6 month FFEF saved.
“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

I pledge to add $100 in the month of June.
Currently, I'm focusing on funding my ROTH and killing my credit card debt.

I'm in. Every month since we have started it I have had to dip into it. We live pay check to pay check so things are hard. Since coming to this site and reading the Tightwad Gazzette, I have learned so much. For the past month I haven't touched my emergency fund AND have been putting extra into it!! I'm so happy about that. We aim for $300 a month (which is $150 taken off each pay) and it makes it pretty tight for us, but I've been able to go even tighter and added an extra $90 for this month already
. We need a new roof by summer's end so I know most of my fund will be gone after that so I'm saving extra hard so I have some left over (also we pay house insurance next month and that comes out of the EF). So I'm trying to put away as much as possible so we don't feel the pinch. It's actually just starting to become our way of life to be frugal. It's great.
