My Electricity / Messy House / Regrouping Challenge
I'm going offline tomorrow night and staying off until the end of July. I will allow myself 1 hour on weekends to do the finances, emails, and take care of any other necessary items (this may include visiting FV but if you see me here any time during the week call me on it!).
I am getting a separate power bar for the TV and receiver and will keep it shut off all day and night (we only watch evenings). It's currently on the same strip as the cable box which needs to be left on for software updates and for scheduled recordings.
I'm installing a keyed doorknob on my bedroom door so that the kids can not come in and turn the computer on.
We get a bonus from the electric company if we can get our bill for July & August at least 10% lower than last year - a difficult feat for us as it was so low to begin with. Television and computer off are the only things I can think of.
Hoping that turning off the computer will result in more time to clean, but the kids are exhausting these days so it may not have any impact. The lock on my door should at least mean that my room stays in good order which will do wonders for my stress level. I don't like the idea of locking the kids out, but I will leave it open in the night so they can come in if they need me. I just need them to stop playing in here. Mommy needs sanctuary
This isn't the first time I've tried to go offline, past attempts were unsuccessful. But we'll be away for a couple weeks so that should help. I'm going to write in my dayplanner if I think of things I need to do or look up during the week and use the list to keep myself focussed during my hour on the weekend. I'm going to stop contesting and all points programs until the fall.
I'm also going to try to take better care of my appearance. I got all my hair chopped off last night and I feel much better about myself. Went from the middle of my back to above my ears and I'm loving it. No more pyjamas in the daytime, and I'm going to take a 1/2 hour every night for 'maintenance'.
I need to change, I need to be doing a better job. I'll relax on vacation, take the month to regroup and hopefully I'll come back in better shape than I'm leaving, because right now I feel like I'm stuck in an avalanche.

Thats a great plan!! You can do it! I wish our power company gave us an incentive to get it lower. Although we have been trying anyways. We discovered the killer for us is the dehumidifier which has to run because its an old(110years) house. I have turned it back though so hopefully that will help! Good luck with everything!

~You've got a great plan! I know that I can spend way too much time online and everything else suffers so I re-group and go without daytime internet for awhile. And I know what you mean about the shorter hair. I chopped mine off last month and boy is it easier! Remember to update us when your month is over. We're gonna want to know all your tips.
