haha does everyone in your regular life think you are absolutely nuts for checking your meter on a daily basis? I'm fairly certain that the few people I've told think I've completely lost it.

My bill went up again, this time to $66 NOT COOL. NOT HAPPY. I am going to do my own "audit" and figure out what has changed. Grr. It was cold for awhile there but I think I am leaving lights on or using more water or something.

Ok I am happy it is still very low but I am not happy that I think I slacked off.

    2/8 = 14!

I turned the heat off completely and unplugged everything including the TV system/phone/modem etc.

I did cook on the stove last night and we both showered. So the hot water heater was used, and the thing that comes on by itself to heat the pipes under the house.

It is 23 degrees out so DH is NOT happy the house is freezing - and he has the day off today. So I told him he could use the space heater in the bedroom.

Wow, feel like we are freezing to death over here for a 38 KWH reading. :-(

I think my cat hates me and DH is beyond frustrated with the multiple layers and having to wear a hat inside. I am starting to feel achy.

I think I may save this experiment for warmer weather. Not to mention they are predicting it will be a full 10 degrees colder this weekend.

We just got our monthly electric bill yesterday.
I know we don't have much snow this winter, but it is still quite cold outside.
I found this interesting. Feb bill 2011 we were at 31.5 kwh daily. Feb bill 2012, we have 25.9 kwh daily. Which is what we used for the month of January. Our current bill is $ 98.50. Last year, same month was $ 165. I think I need to look back in my daily log book and try to compare. We have wood heat, and our thermostat is set at 75 and our house is 1248 sq ft. I know I been good with the electric but this is still mind boggling how low this month's bill is. Normal for us is $ 100 to 110 a month on the average. Our electric company is giving a better rate for this year or so they claim. Use the same or less and your bill is less. Well I sure hope it is less $, if I use less kwh. Sounds like twisting the words to me.

2/3 of this bill is delivery charge btw.
    Kitchen stove is propane which averages between $ 7 - $ 10 a month.

The dreaded 2 month electric/heating bill came and it is only $409!! I had budgeted $500, but was fearing that it would be closer to 700! I am so excited - being cold these past few weeks has really paid off! And I know we can do better going forward since we have finally learned how to best heat this place! What a relief!
