I HATE THIS CHALLENGE! which of course means I didn't succede again!!!

I did do better. I usually don't include eating out and I tried to this month. We also opened a soup kitchen at church and I have been fixing part of the food (about $10 a week).
I may do better if I categorize my groceries. IF I subtract the soup kitchen (only $30 this month)and eating out ($70) I did okay.

My goal was $200. I still need to add $15 soup kitchen and $15 eating out to my total bringing me to $215. Oh well. I think I am stocked for next month!

    Thinking about next month already.
Hoping to get the budget down to $ 40 a week for the 2 of us.
Not sure if this will work or not, but it will be the goal.
We don't go out to eat anymore. Scratch cooking.

I been using a few more coupons lately. So far, only on non food items for the stockpile. I keep challenging myself to do better.

Went back and got more soup and frozen dinners.

Here is what I got for $15.21

    20 Healthy choice soups
    10 frozen dinners
    4 cans organic beans
    2 pks bagels
3 tuna helpers (lent is coming and my kids only like tuna)
    2 taco seasoning packets
    1 chili seasoning packet
    1 pack tortilla shells
    1 bag tortilla chips

Saved over 84% with store savings and coupons.

    Had $41.25 in manufacturer coupons

I have about $4 left in the budget for the month and will need to get some fruit.

Aldis has a good deal on oranges .99 4lbs., apples $1.19 3 lbs. and banana's .39 lb. this week hopefully I will stay under budget.

My last grocery shop for this month was a total of $163.55. My total for the month was $536.37... over by $36.37. I don't feel bad about the overage... My DMother fell and broke her hip just before Christmas and I have been cooking for and feeding her during the month of January as well. And I can't even count how many times DD20 has fed her DBoyfriend... All in all I am happy with my results. Bring on February!

I am going to skip the grocery shopping today. Snow started at noon, not 3PM as forecast. I went over my sale list and there were no items that we really had to have. There's only a quart of milk left but DH can manage with that. I'm not the milk drinker.
Will add up my monthly total later.

    Spent another $18.21 this morning.
Bringing me to $177.11 for the month.
I am over for the month but I am going to try and not go to the store for 2 weeks.
I got 4 1/2 gallons of milk to day and it should last a couple of weeks so no need to go to the store.

Soooo impressive to see what you are able to get for so little!!

I just talked with DH (visiting DD in STL) - he asked me "Have you ever been to Aldis?" - Laughingly I told him yes!! We are so not used to such unbelievable prices - we go crazy at Schnucks!!

Think I am going to hop aboard for February to get a baseline for us. DH won't be home until 2/6, so I'll have more time to plan and he'll have more time to enjoy the food prices in STL!!

Checking in with my Jan totals. I did go over my $320 budget by $19.67.. I did add to my stockpile of coffee and then we were snowbound these last 2 days so I had to have extra milk and bread on hand. (kids home from school)..but now I won;t have to buy Milk for about 2 weeks! and I forgot about the neighbor that eats supper here more than she does at her own house..So I am proud of the total.

For Feb I think I will stick to the same amount 80. a week

My new week started Thursday and so far this week I've spent something like $6 and change I think. Will have to dig out receipt and add to siggy. I think I have a couple coupons I'd like to use with BOGO but don't really need anything. I'm going to be under my $25 for the week but over my goal of no more than $150 for month max.

My total for the month was $341.15, so I was under $58.85, But, if I add the pet food in which was $!09.21. I was over. I guess for now I will keep the pet food out of the food budget for now, and see how it goes next month.
