I haven't posted in the debt reduction thread but would like to start.
My question is how far I should go back to catch up?
Should I just start with this month, the month I joined FV (July), or even the beginning of the year? I don't mind doing the work, but not sure what others would recommend?
Thanks!BS1: $1000/$1000
BS2:
CC: $0/ $15884
Other Debt: $0/2487
Car Loan: $0/11800
SLs: $20368/54031
Total Consumer Debt= $20,368/81825
Timeline:

Two things:
1) Debt Reduction Challenge Posts for 2010 will be accepted until Saturday, January 15th. Sometime shortly thereafter, a final total for 2010 will be calculated.
2) Volunteer needed to run the 2011 challenge! If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
Greebo(Nerd Spender): Loving and extremely patiently tolerated husband of ceashels.
WARNING: Y Chromosome behind the keyboard. Adjust your listening filters appropriately!
ThreeTwo mortgages, twooneno car loans, oneno credit cards, and a partridge in pear tree!

Is there going to be a 2011 debt reduction challenge? I came here today specifically looking for the one for debt reduction so I can have support and accountability. Thanks in advance.

I lost track of this last year when we sold our house and then bought again. I'm determined to pay the new mortgage down as quickly as possible.
If the only way I get to post my payments is by volunteering to run the challenge then I will do it.

I just wanted to say thanks to Greebo for running such an awesome challenge. I loved reading everyone's updates. They kept me inspired to keep going. And keeping track of the principal and interest payments was a great tweak. Seeing all that money going to interest was *IR-RI-TA-TING*. Nothing like a little anger to fuel your motivation.

I took the liberty of re-sticking this thread and renaming it to be 2011 continuing 2010.
I am no longer running the challenge - but I thought it made sense to keep this thread around rather than make a new one and lose the context. If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.
