I'm in! I will probably use it for some additional payments on DH's student loan...I'm trying to reduce the amount we owe on this by half by the end of 2011.
    May Goals:
Only $300 for groceries this month - $206/$300
    Monthly coupon/valued customer savings = $14.08
    No wasted food!
    Stick to budget!
    Track spending DAILY
    Get checkbook balanced
    Save $200 toward EF: $85/$200

2012 FV Challenges: Try New Recipes Challenge: 22/52, Menu Planning Challenge: 21/52, Grocery Reduction Budget Challenge, Change Jar Challenge: $27.81 as of 1-14-12, Lose A Pound A Week Challenge: 3/48, No Wasted Food Challenge

    2012 Goals

    1. To pay off CC (only $917.15 left!) and never again charge more than I can pay off each month.
    2. Snowball the CC payment into Sears Credit Card bill (no interest) and get it paid off ASAP.
    3. Snowball the CC and Sears card payments into hospital bill (due w/ Baby #2 via C-section in mid-January). Pay that off ASAP.4. Snowball payments into DH's student loan (as of 12/4/11 there's still $4770.84 remaining). Pay off by 12/31/12.
    5. Keep our grocery budget to $300 each month.
    6. Use Dave Ramsey's budget sheet and get on track with this each pay period.
    7. Get and keep checkbook balanced and keep an eye (weekly if not daily) on our e-statements.
    8. Get savings account up to $8,000 (incl. emergency fund)
    9. Make 2 Christmas gifts per month: 0/24.
    10. Get our home organized: use a receipt book, keep my coupon organizer in check, have a touch-once policy for paper (touch once and then file or toss).
    11. Achieve "give or get" goal of $1500 for the board I serve on by 9/30/12.
    12. Taxes filed by March 17.

I am going to empty mine today at the bank. $10.60 (approximately) so it will reset to 0 to begin the year.

I have decided instead of emptying it every other week, I am going to go for $100.00 in it. When I make it, I will buy some new clothes with it.

I am tempted to empty the jar out and count today, but I think I'll wait until this time next year. That said, I think I have at least $20 worth of change in there. That sucker is HEAVY!

Ok DS#2 and I are def in! DS will love this because he always spots dropped change and will enjoy seeing his finds grow.

We will collect & save pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters, any money found on the ground (no matter what it is) with the odd loonie or toonie thrown in. I just can't see myself being able to drop in $1 and $2 coins into the change jar on a regular basis (could be going towards some other challenge LOLOLOL). Oh and I'm also going to add all of our Canadian Tire store money to the jar (being a hockey mom I tend to buy ++ from that store!)...that stuff really adds up in our house and my parents are always giving me their Canadian Tire money!!!!!

Who knows maybe at the end of the year I'll be able to purchase some hockey gear for DS!!! I seriously think if I combine the Canadian Tire cash and jar change I will be able to purchase some of DS's hockey gear with it!!!!!!!! Woo Hoo!

Count me in! We put all of the change that is cashed in into DD's account. I'll have to cash the current jar in sometime next week.

Default I have not counted yet...

i have some change in there but can guarantee its not more than 3-4 dollars cause its mostly pennies....had to rob it one day for some reason...but i am going to try and leave it alone until the third week in november of next year and see how much we have collected...I don't get a whole lot of change cause i pretty much use the debit card cause i tend to spend less using the debit card than using cash....but we shall see....

I've come to these forums today with a purpose; I am looking for support and accountability. My husband and I have agreed on a plan that would allow me the luxury of having the option to quit my "punch the clock" job as of July of 2012 if we can meet some financial goals by that time. In order to have a chance a doing so, not only must I stay within in the budget (which I normally do), but I must reduce discretionary spending so that it is at least 10% below budget. I'm going to every challenge I think can help us meet this goal, and I would love some .

This being said, I am in on this one. I just hope I can keep the change in the jar instead of digging it out to spend it in place of breaking bills.
