Tomorrow I promised myself I wouldn't spend any money in the vending machines at work. My gas tank is filled up. I also promised myself not to buy cigarettes anymore. Of course, this promise has been made many times before, but I am going to give it the old college try yet again tomorrow. Everything stops TOMORROW!
You CAN do it FF!!! I want you to check back here tomorrow and I will be waiting to hear that it was a vending machine free, cigarette buying free day. I WILL be here whether you fail or succeed BUT I WILL be here to know how you made out. You CAN do this!!! You ARE worth it!!! Just take it ONE day at a time. ONE day at a time. One hour at a time. ONE minute at a time, if that is what you need. I WILL be here. YOU better be too....to check in!!!! :hugz:
Great goals FF! My son-in-law took three tries before he finally quit smoking. He had to use a drug and a psychologist before it finally clicked with him. Hopefully you won't have to go that route. I'm cheering for you! :cheergrl: :cheergrl: :cheergrl:
Thanks for all the well wishes. I didn't visit the vending machine, haven't had a smoke today either. But super itchy for going to the corner store for a pack...Thinking of having a cup of tea instead.
I quit 4 1/2yrs ago, I lived on a quit-smoking msg board for several weeks. I would spend all day reading everyone's story and how tobacco affects your body....pretty scary sh&%
I find that I tended to overdo it with my food last night "The First Night" without. I have to take food with my pills at night and I had 2 peanut butter and honey sandwiches. But I didn't go to the store as my mind wanted me to do and I did have a cup of tea with my food and then pills and then I just answered a few emails and turned in early. This morning was not terrible. I have more trouble at night and on weekends than at any other time. That is when I need the most help and I can sense that my fellow fvf people can seem to understand this.
I stopped in the car a couple of years ago and dinner is at work and I don't want my fellow workers to know that I have smoking problems. So, I always take a long hot shower in the morning and wear a little sample of something that smells nice so they wont know! Of course, my teeth have "yellowed" a bit and have started using the Hydrogen Peroxide yesterday because I know if I don't smoke for a month, the HP will whiten my teeth naturally. Most "Teeth Whitening" products are up to 32% HP.
The vending machine has been easier than I thought. If I stay in my department during dinner, I wont venture out to waste my coins on too small nutritionless snacks.
Tonight, being nights #2. I made a couple of scrambled eggs in the microwave in less than 3 mins. I also had a couple of spoonfuls of peanut butter and a couple of spoonfuls of leftover peas and salmon. Off to make my tea now. Thanks for all the replies and encouragement. You all have no idea how very difficult this is for me. So much you don't know... Maybe someday I will tell you the rest.
WTG Frugalforever. You're doing great with this. You're right, I have no idea how difficult it is to quit smoking. I watched in anguish as my son-in-law tried and failed two or three times. But the kicker for him was he had to quit because his smoking was making my DD sick. She was missing too much time off work. I really hope this works for you Frugalforever. You'll feel so much better once you're off for awhile...at least that's what my son-in-law says.
I have started and stopped many times in my life. I have had surgery due to my horrible addiction and I still went back. I am hoping I don't have cancer this time.
I'm so proud of you. At first I thought it would be too difficult, giving up the vending machine and the smokes, but you have conquered both! Remember, it just takes 2 weeks to get the horrible stuff out of your system. And you will feel better!
Actually it will take longer for me as I smoked a lot of smokes. Sometimes a pack or more a day/night
