I challenge you....
To find one thing that you do every month and while you are out see if you can do better.
Here is mine....
Up until 2 months ago I was getting my scott in the big honking packages and then I noticed our local Drug Emporium sales the 4 pack for $2.49.
CVS price Scott Paper
Scott One-Ply Unscented Bathroom Tissue 1000 Sheets Per Roll
4 CT
details
similar products $4.19
A savings of $1.70 and still better than buying the biggies per roll.
I just buy my alloted amount in 4 packs now.
The price has not changed in 2 months and as I MUST get my dog food, one of my cat foods, and the big honking cat litter at the Super one foods next door it is NOT out of my way.
My usual trip is...
To the bank, 3 blocks on the same road I go to Super walmart and get my groceries, spin into the Walmart gas station and get my gas, a mile down the road from walmart is Super one foods for dog, and cat supplies and then nextdoor to get my t. paper and coupon savings.
All in one trip and less than 4 miles round trip in an afternoon.
Check those prices girls.
Post back if you too found a savings you didn't know about. The math never lies, budget in INK!

Well, I just called my phone/internet/cable company and quoted them their competitor's price for all three services. I asked if they had a better deal and implied I was thinking of switching. He not only took off $50 a month from my bill, but gave me a free internet upgrade and free DVR rental. The price and freebies are good for one year.
Does that count?

Totally off the subject but...they still have Drug Emporiums? I luvvvved that place! They took all of ours out of here years ago and I just figured they completely went out of business.

On Thursdays our supermarket flyers arrived. I will challenge myself to look through the flyers and find stuff on sale and shop at close by stores for sales instead of doing all the shopping at one store. I drive by all these stores anyway, so gas is not an issue.

I did so much comparison shopping and realized my best deals are at Costco... more so when they have a coupon in the passport book.
8 pack of kleenex 11 dollars, minus 3 dollar coupon about 1.00 a box and at the store the same size kleenex box for one was 2.50
Same with tiolet paper, dog food, paper towels, towels, bedding piloows, sheets, mattress, dishcloths...
and so many food items.
The selection is limited for some things like stoves, clothing
so you can't buy everything there
but it sure is a great store.

I dont go to Sams but arent they pretty much the same????
03-13-2008, 03:00 PM #13
LOLOL! I don't know!
I guess they are. I do get good deals at Sams but bulk shopping takes a chunk out of my grocery budget.
Pay more but get more works for me if my budget is big enough to support $12 for a case of V8 or should i get a gallon jug from walmart and buy more ground beef.
That is the rub for me, spend more on one item to save more or spend the same and get more types of food.

I generally bought whatever laundry soap was on sale & I had a coupon for. Then I realized that one of our stores ran a special every month on Dynamo 200oz bottles, B0G2Free (3 jugs for $12.98)...now I stock up and I have cut the cost of my laundry soap by half!
I also cut $1.00 per month off the cost of my newspaper by having the payment taken directly out of my checking acct...not only do I save the $1.00, but the stamp & cost of the check as well."Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans." John Lennon

I have challenge myself out of Walmart.
( I really hate that store )
Price Chopper and Hannafords are 1/2 block from each other with a dollar store
in between.
Also Sears, Kmart and Target are in the block. Dollar General, Joanns Fabrics ,and Walgreens on on my way home.
I do shopping with coupons and sales only so my challenge was to get out of walmart completely and keep within my budget.
