    Talking (sock) monkey socks

I LOVE this pattern! It's called "Monkey" by Cookie A. (for the knitters, I did the no-purling version...it felt like cheating lol). The yarn is Trekking 122 and the colors remind me of dds sock monkey so I thought it appropriate for the Monkey sock pattern.

They worked up very quickly! I started them Friday and finished them on Sunday. And they are TWINS! No small feat when making socks one at a time w/ striping yarn

    These are for ME!

Those are great! How are you getting so much done? I'm happy I got some quicky dish towels knit up. I need to go get some more sock yarn!

I don't know I would say I'm a fast knitter, but I don't think so. I knit for a bit in the early AM before the kids get up...while I'm sipping my first cup of coffee & watching the morning news.

Then I may knit for an hour or so while I take the boys outside to play. Sometimes I knit if we have to go somewhere in the van (dh always drives). I also knit at my son's t-ball games.

But the majority of my knitting gets done in the evenings, after the kids are in bed and I can put my feet up in the recliner and knit while I watch mindless tv for a couple hours.

    Man! Again, you've inspired me.

You have come so far so fast. I started sockknitting a few months before you ... and I haven't yet tried anything more complex than a baby cable rib. And here you knock out a pair of Monkeys in a weekend!

Yeah, but I cheated I skipped the purling lol. I'm convinced that's cheating somehow Someday I'll try a pair with the purls. These were WAY easier than I thought they'd be. Mostly because the lace pattern is written out and you don't have to use the chart if you don't want to.

    Thanks again

Oooh! Maybe I'll make that my next pair -- I have a package of sock yarn due to arrive tomorrow. If Monkeys are that straightforward, maybe that's what I should do.
