Default Japanese crafts - I like it

Anyone else interested in Japanese crafts like zakka, amigurumi etc. I have read through several Japanese crafts and home decorating magazines lately and I just love their style. They make things so pretty and sweet but still simple and modern.
I have seen some lovely Japanese tunic patterns, but I am afraid to sew them since I quess I am so much taller than Japanese women.

I love their crafts so much! Have you ever ordered any of the their craft books? I broke down about a month ago and ordered some embroidery pattern books off of yesasia.com I've heard through other people's review's of Japanese craft books that although they're not in English that they are so well illustrated that they are easy to understand. I'm still waiting on my order to come so I can't wait. You get free shipping for orders over like $36US I believe, so I got 3 books. Their stuff is so cute it should be illegal!

I have not ordered anything yet, but I will. Those embroidery patterns are really cute. I have one amigurumi book, which I bought from a craft market. It is in Japanese, but still really easy to understand. Thank you for the yesasia.com tip. I already visited their site and it really is interesting.

Some of the large cities in the US have stores with access to some of those magazines and books, but where I live it is not near any of them. I thought it would be easier to just buy them. I'd love to look at some of their craft magazines. If I could just teach myself to crochet then I would love to do some of the amigurumi patterns!

Just to update. I got my order in from YesAsia.com today. I ordered it on Aug 16. So it took a little less than a month to get here. I'm totally excited about the books, and I think I am in love! I could get in big trouble wanting to buy tons of these books. I got two on crochet scrubbies for cleaning, and then I got two on embroidery. They are definitely detailed enough for me to understand without any English. I'd say anyone who is interested in these cute crafts to go for it. You can order from yesasia.com or amazon.jp. If you do a google search on Japanese crafting, you can find more information on the kinds of books that might interest you.

What an interesting topic. I know virtually nothing about it - except origami, which I do enjoy. I'll have to do some research - thanks for raising the topic.
