My finished rug
It's called a toothbrush rug-made with 2.5inch strips of cotton and the tool used looks like a tootbrush handle-I worked on it for a year and had to frog once.

That is beautiful, and so cool! So I couldn't tell by the picture, I take it the rug is not braided?

It's beautiful. I made one years ago, but didn't use the "toothbrush" (have it, just didn't use it), I used a large crochet hook.
They hold up for like forever. Mine is in our entryway and stomped on day in and day out. It still looks great. Did you get the kit from the ruglady? http://www.ruglady.net She's so sweet.
Enjoy your pretty rug.

It wasn't the rug lady pattern though I do have hers I want to try that next. This was Aunt Philly's Toothbrush Rugs.It is like doing an upside down buttonhole stitch through the bottom loop. It's not hard at all you just have to get the tension right-mine was too tight for the first 10 rows and it was all twisted that's when I had to frog-then I had to ~relax!!! and be loose
