Help me decide on colors, PLEASE!!
I want to make this afghan. I love it as a quilt and think it is gorgeous crocheted. However, the yarn they recommend is just way to much money. Here is the afghan. What colors do you think would look good?
I don't have a "theme" I'm really going for.
Help!! I am color stumped!

It's really hard for me to tell you what color without knowing a little information.
Is it for you?
Is it a gift?
What color is the room it is going to be used in?
What colors are the walls, the floors, major color in the room?
What are the favorite colors of the person this is intended for?
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

You're gonna hate me for asking this question.
What are you doing planning making an expensive (as you put it) afghan for yourself when you 1) have debt, and 2) are trying to save money to move out of the current apartment?
Sorry...If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Greebo... don't make me chase you out of the needle-arts section with my double-points

You can use inexpensive yarn, and on a smaller scale (lap quilt) using about a pound of white/cream and about a skein of whatever other color you wanted.... but that doesn't change the original question, what colors. I like the sage idea... not sure how the other colors would work.

Ohhh, but it's a beautiful afghan . . . and it won't be made over night regardless. Run him out, Lady V!

I think white with red and rose pink vareigated rings. I can't wait to see some pics. It will be gorgeous whatever you choose.

I really like to see some fall (natural) colors, maybe some yellows/oranges/reds. Let us know what you decide. P.S. you could always be on the look out for some bargains (or my favorite thing is stock up sales and having a hugh stash!)

No its a valid question, this is my entertainment! instead of using my blow money on whatever anyone else uses there's on.. this is mine.
And if I made it the way the instructions said it would cost me about $50!! wow! So I am thinking that if I change the colors, and buy it this week when my part time job has the 50% off your entire order employee appreciation week.. I can get it down to $15 or so... I am hoping for $10 hehe.
and since i started DR i have never budgeted in blow money, i was like.. oohh you'll be fine without it.. i ended up spending more by telling myself NO! so know I get $20 a month. I don't think that is a bad thing, and this afghan is going to take me a long time.. there are 125 "pieces" to make and then put together. $15 for 3 months worth of entertainment... I say that is a good thing, much less expensive than what I was doing.
Thanks for looking out for me Greebo, and keeping me on track I don't mind you being the forum curmudgeon

Muahahaha. That's hysterical. Except I just spit demon water (AKA soda from which I have been so desperately trying to detox) out my nose. Is it gross to re-drink something that came out your nose? Dang I bet it is.
