Mill Ends?
I've seen this mentioned a few times, and I'm not familiar with what they are.
Will someone please enlighten me? TIA

Duh on me...answered my own question:
Angelicrafts Discount Yarn Shop Mill Ends Info

What are mill ends?
"The definition of mill end yarn varies by manufacturer and mill. Essentially, mill ends are like “left-overs” or “factory seconds” from the yarn mills. Some mills call them “waste” yarn. We call them good yarn and a really good price!! Much of the time, at least with the mill ends we carry, the mill equipment simply made some skeins too small, too large, too tight, too loose, lopsided or funny-looking. Sometimes there is yarn left on the machine when the run is completed. This left-over yarn is run off the cones."

Walmart had some of these just before Christmas in huge bags and quite cheap. I found that the wool really wasn't very good. I have to agree with the description given that they were odd shaped and very thin. I didn't buy any and it didn't look like many did because the bin was overflowing both times I was in Walmart and I didn't see anyone with one in their cart or hands.
