Has anyone started their Christmas Stitching yet?
I want to start my Christmas list. Last year I made all the adult gifts. This year, I would like to make most of the kids gifts as well. I just don't know if I can do it, even starting now :-) Has anyone else started yet? Maybe we can make this thread a starting place for lists - who to make for, what to make, how much is done, etc.
I haven't really started my lists yet, but I went through the Herrschners catalogue today and got some really great ideas! Some crochet, but not all this year. Some cross stitch (not much, this takes me a long time), some bead work (I LOVE beading kits!) and maybe some soapmaking this year.
I can't wait to see what everyone has planned! :-)

I have to finish the baby outfits I'm making for a new niece, and then slip in a charity blanket, then I hope to start some rugby-style sweaters (with a collar) for my God daughter's two kids for Christmas. I also hope to make socks for each of my siblings (5 of them). I woefully behind.....

Contrary housewife, I've been there (2 years ago). That's when I started starting early... just maybe not early enough... :-)

I start my Christmas crafts in January also (Vickilynn and I are alike in many ways
..... actually I start right after Christmas with a knit or crochet project - this year it was scrubbies and dishcloths - so I have a lot ready to go.
Don't have a list yet - but will work on it and an inventory. Mahalo for bringing this up - it will help me get organized!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I bought some really cute little Christmas felt napkin cuffs and coasters kits on sale right after last Christmas, but I haven't started stitching them yet. I've gotten as far as opening one of them and reading the instructions.

And a great start you have!! Let us know when you get further!!
Vickilynn - my dear MIL got me started on scrubbies - cutting strips of 8 yards of nylon netting and then crocheting them in circles and squares. She started doing this years ago and would give cello baggies full of them to everyone!! I'll post a picture when I post the others this weekend.
I'm going to make gift packages with the scrubbies, dishclothes and decorated flour sack towels for a lot of Christmas gifts for the aunties and uncles this year. that reminds me that I need to order the flour sack towels.Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I finished on of my crazy patch Christmas placemats, reversible on the back is brown leaves. Now I want to make a table cloth out of the brown leaves. Funny how one thing leads to another!
Maumimagic - does it hurt your hand to crochet the netting?

Vickilynn - I have to check on the right way to cut the netting - because that does make a difference in looks and the feel. So, if you cut it the 'right' way, it doesn't hurt - not as smooth as yarn or fabric, but not a bother either!!

I am making alot of homemade gifts this year for gifts as well. At the beginning of the year, I set a goal for 12 (1/month). I have finished 11 so far...but ... each day, I am constantly adding more to the list and then I also have my craft booth inventory I need to make.... Hmmmm...never enough time in the day.

That's my problem too Debbie - I'm always adding to my gift list!!
Is your craft booth going on now or is it seasonal? What are you selling?Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Some great ideas here!
I went to AC Moore over the weekend. They are our closest "craft" store (at over a half an hour away!) I picked up a needlepoint kit (I started this, about a quarter of the way through), a cross stitch kit (Opened, but not started), a bunch of yarn (as always!)
and I took a look at some other stuff. I may nix the soapmaking for this year. Some of it has some icky ingredients in it, and to do it from scratch would be too time-intensive with the 3 little ones.
So, I have a good start, but I still have a long way to go!
