What am I going to do with........
YARN! I found a great deal at Ollie's yesterday. So I purchased lots of Lion Suede 122yd/110m, 3 ounces/85 gr skeins. Each skein was $1.39 !!!!! I have 6 each of the following colors: eggplant, cream, sage, and mixed coppery/brown.
My goal is to make holiday gifts with this but my knitting skill is still on the easy level. Last year I gave my girlfriends knitted lap throws that were in garter stitch. This year I would like to find a pattern that is a little more complex but not too difficult for me. (not a scarf)
I have never worked with Lion Suede before and don't know how it stretches. What type of easy projects would be appropriate for it.
I'll be looking on Ravelry to see what they offer as well but I would really like input from the more experienced knitters/crocheters here for what they would suggest.
Thank you for any help you can offer.

ceashels, We don't want you to be frustrated so we think you should give it Meeee. LOL I asked my DD as she is the knitter/crochet person. Unfortunately, She hasn't worked w/ the suede. So, we would be intrested in what you find out. Ollies must be local?? thx.

Dear Warrior.... I don't think so! rofl
I've found a few Ravelry patterns that look doable for my skill and I think I might try a shawl with one of the colors as well. I would really like to make something usable to give as gifts though.
http://www.olliesbargainoutlet.com/ seems to be a mid Atlantic region, the store I was in had a shelf of each color and a few colors I couldn't afford just yet.The Free Spirit Saver who walks the path with Greebo.

I have made hats with the lion suede - they come out a bit larger than the pattern, but not by much. The finished product doesn't stretch any more than it would if it were acrylic, in my experience :-)

Greebo *let* you buy it? LOL just kidding. Great deal on some nice, soft yarn. Unfortunately I've never worked with it beyond a hat I made a couple of years ago, so I don't have any advice on what to make.

Cool store just the kind of store I love closest to me is Ohio. May you keep your patience w/ your "handiwork" as grandma used to call it. I haven't tried for years but my stitches used to get tighter and tighter. I think I might try again someday now that the kids are older. I expect to see something "fabulous" on ETSY.com by fall.LOL no pressure.

rofl. Greebo is the spender in this family. He had to TALK ME INTO making the purchase. I'm glad I did though but finding a place to store it going to be tough.
I finished making a cowl with it last night and when I tried it on it was very big, very soft but VERY big. lol So my next one will have fewer cast on stitches. I'll post a picture when I have more time. But for a few hours work and $1.39 I think I've found a nice little gift for some friends and family. (And I'll get to practice some knitting stitch patterns to improve my skill.)The Free Spirit Saver who walks the path with Greebo.

Hi. You might try the Lion Brand Yarn website. I've seen a vest and a poncho and other things made out of the Lion Suede.
