Default What do you do with yarn remnants?

What do you do with the little 'leftovers' of yarn from various projects that are all finished? From the little 2 inch balls to maybe half a skein?

I'm starting to accumulate several and hate to just toss them, but don't know what to do with them???

    Thanks!

Since I make items for charity I use quite a bit of yarn and make stripes or tassels on hats with scraps. Also I use them to make chains in various colors as added decorations on mittens. If you don't want them donate them to a knitting charity in your area. They are much appreciated !

I make allot of items out of cotton yarn and I use the leftovers to make one for myself to use... sometimes they look better then some of the solid color ones :-) Also a friend of mine takes her scraps and makes a continous granny square blanket and just keeps adding to it when she gets remants.

The tiny tiny pieces but in your bird feeder for the birds to take for a nest.
The small ones start granny squares.
And about 2 inch ones work great for hooked rugs.

I also hate tossing scraps and use them in scrap afghans. I don't know if you've seen this pattern, but it's called the mindless tv-watching knit afghan and you knit in the round and keep going until it's the length you want it. No ends to sew in and it's double thick!!

I have crocheted granny squares in many colors.
Last round or two is done in a solid color.
My favorite one is done in black.

I have also done a granny square afghan for a online friend.
This one was completed 2 years ago December.

This one was done in 2 colors and I probably will sell it.

Scrap yarn is also good for fringe on scarfs or yarn hats.

You could also make a lap afghan from the scraps.

Just figured out another one! I'm making "bookworms" for my son's class to give as Christmas presents for his class. Do you guys remember these? They are bookmarks with a curlycue on the end and you put google eyes on it. Then you chain a few and put a tassle on the end! I finally found this pattern and have been using up my scraps. I decided to double strand them and they are coming out super cute!!

Okay gals...where are the links to these patterns? I'm thinking the bookmark and the afghan in the round. Sound interesting and worth a try.

My problem is I knit with 100% wool mostly, and that's a bit scratchy for afghans. Not sure what to do with leftovers...

Peanut---here is a website that does charity kniting for soldiers. Wool yarn is a requirement. http://knitting.about.com/gi/o.htm?z...itizensam.org/

This charity also accepts wool squares: http://www.knit-a-square.com/knitting-instructions.html
