Ansley - really interesting list you have!! What's a bassinette purse?
I'm going to make quilts for all my close relatives and making matching backpacks to gift them in - did the same for two baby quilts and I really love the idea and the result......I'll post pictures so you can see what I mean!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Annie's Attic - Itsy Bitsy Babies & Their Bassinet Purses
The bassinet purse looks like a bassinet with a skirt on it but much smaller. The basket (?) that the baby doll would sleep in will rise up to store baby blanket and extra clothes. When carrying around the skirt is pulled up with a draw string and it is carried like a purse.
Annie's Attic - Baby Dragon
The baby dragon is for a 2yo girl I didn't think would be ready for the purse and a 3yo boy.
Annie's Attic - Large Dragon
The big dragon is for my 12yo nephew and my 16yo son.
I am still debating the purse/bag for the preteens, two 10yo girls.
I found the Humpty dumpty doll in an old book I had stuck away. It was for one of the 3yo girls but it came out a lot bigger than I was expecting. My DD likes it so I may give it to her.Last edited by ansley; 06-23-2010 at 01:25 PM. Reason: Spelling (spell check is my friend)

I can't quilt. I keep saying I am going to get my MIL to teach me but I never seem to have time.
I did think about sewing some basic gift bags that could be reused. Now that I started homeschooling, I'll be happy if I get the gifts made.

I had a rough weekend. On baby dragon #2 I need to finish the wings (almost done) and attach them. Then I need to make the eyes which shouldn't take long. Then I plan to start on the first bassinet purse.

I finished the hat and changed the scarf to a pattern I wrote... 2 officially down. I have the wrists done of the mittens.
I was hoping to have more done by now, but I changed gears a little and finished some things we are bringing on vacation (July) first.
Ansley, don't give up!
Last year I gave the gifts in home-made grocery bags, people just toss the wrapping paper anyways.

... I remember my Auntie making me a bassinet purses she made out of the bottom of a dish soap bottles and butter bowls.
Maybe life really WAS simple then, but I miss them.

I finished up baby dragon #2 last night. I emptied my "project in progress" bag and put that stuff away. Then I started pulling out what I would need for the bassinet purse and wouldn't you know it, the hook I need is MIA. I'm sure it is stuck in some half finished project somewhere but I looked in all the normal places and can't find it. Maybe it is a sign. I was going to make the largest size but since they are 3yo maybe I should make the medium or smallest.

I haven't made anything per say, but, I've cut out recipes for HM facial scrub, hot choc mix, pattern for felted flowers to put on my HM mittens, and I've thot about making earrings. I've bought a couple of wool sweaters for felting, for a $ each. So I guess, I'm thinking of Christmas....

ansley - I am interested in the Humpty Dumpty Doll. Where did you find the pattern? Is it easy? I would love to look at it to see if I could make one for my grandson.
