I've made two scarves, working on the third. Making them long enuff to wrap around the neck several times. Soft pink & working beads into the fringe. I've already gave away the first 2..the 3rd..maybe I'll keep it!

Sound cute. I love having long scarves that wrap around the neck several times, especially when I'm not wearing turtlenecks to keep my neck warm. Funny thing is, I bought alpaca wool because it's supposed to be hypo-allergenic and not itchy. Only I've found it's that annoying kind of tickle-itch on my neck.

I've also bought enough yarn for a couple of scarves that I intend to give away from a living history farm I love going to. I just hope the people I give them to appreciate the yarn. Not cheap but oh so worth it to keep the various farm events up and running.

Just joined a prayer shawl group at my local church. One of the women there was the one who taught me how to knit (even though I've since forgotten, lol). Learned a new stitch combo and hope it'll make the lap rug I'm working on go faster. Good thing about the group is that they have yarn if I need more for any new prayer shawl projects I intend to work on. At least it'll give me something to do.

Chose masculine colors with my son in mind.
It's a Neat Ripple from Attic 24's Blog as recommended by {{Hugs, dcompton}}. I started by chaining 168 plus 3 for the turn. It's 12 repeats (11 humps).

The finished size is 54"wide x 66"long. I estimate it is 3 pounds - (2) 1-pound Caron (cape cod blue and taupe) and a 12 oz. Caron Country Basket variegated. Plus I had to go and get one more of each the blue and taupe to finish.

Ta-Da! My first completed afghan since picking up this very addictive hobby!! Here 'tis:

Thanks FF and DC! I started an alpaca tweed scarf on Sunday and finished it up last night so I can take it along to wear with my comfy brown dress for my conference tomorrow. It's a simple ruffle pattern and I'm really liking that I was able to make such a luxuriously soft scarf and get it as long as I wanted - I'm finding that purchased scarves often are too short for my taste.

OOooo and I am getting excited! My coworker suggested that we check out a local yarn shop or two (so happy she's a knitter) in the metro area where we'll be tomorrow night! I found a few in the Madison area that seem to have fairly good reviews. I'll be looking for more of this high-end yarn to feel up!!! lol

Here's the scarf and what I plan to wear with it

I am on to working on my mom's afghan; making another Neat Ripple pattern for her just to keep things simple for me. Found a Pumpkin orange and a Dark Orchid purple to complete my rainbow of RH SS yarns that I am using. I planned out the color repeat pattern but now I will be swatching the color pattern to keep on the nearby end table so I don't have to keep looking in my computer to see... Which Color Comes Next?

Nice, Suma. Great outfit. I also like long scarves. I ended up making three scarves from wool I bought from the living history farm near me. Two I gave away and the guys like them. The third I ended up keeping for myself because they ended up being so warm.

I also frogged an afgan project I'm currently working on. This is the one where I ended up using discontinued yarn. I shortened it a little (by about an inch or two) so I'll see how long it ends up. The skeins I have are only 5 oz each, which is the same size as the skeins I'm using for another afgan. But I'm using an "H" size hook for my afgan, rather than the "G" size hook. So we'll see how big the afgan turns out to be.

Thanks for the compliments, I wore it today for the conference; lots of oohs there too And I fondled it like a blankie all day HA! Can't wait to see pics of your projects, renmerc!

We went to one yarn shop tonight, got to fondle alpaca and mink and silk and merino and cashmere - OoooOOooo sooo fine but I did not buy anything. I am really hoping to find a variegated soft yarn to make a scarf for my green dress but I am being a bit discriminating. I really want a blue/green/purple in the THE right color tones and I didn't find it there. We're heading to another shop on the way home tomorrow and... guess what FF? There is a quilt shop right next door so I'll fondle a bunch of fabric too. And then I think I'll look for houses for sale in the area - sounds like a GRRREAT place to set up residence
