Thanks DCompton, and yes the variegated one was the one that I was asking about. All the scarves that I'm making are very narrow to wear more as an accessory than for warmth.

I'll play! I'm working on de-stashing a bit, since we need the space. I'm working on an easy ripple blanket that I learned here. I also have a giant granny square I'm working on, and I've been looking for a shawl pattern as well.
Another thing I'm working on here and there is a knotted 20-chain scarf. Basically, you chain until you have about 10 feet, tie off, then take 20 or so of those chains and knot them together every foot or so to make a scarf. A good way to use up the funky, feathered yarns that are the bane of my existance but oh so pretty!
I have a couple of nights out coming up that I'd like to have the scarf ready for, so if I get everything done early enough today that's what I'll work on!

oh my word, i had such problems starting this dang thing! it was like i just couldn't get the tension right and it kept rippling and looking like a ruffle. i must have unraveled 3 times. in the end i switched to a WAY bigger hook and am working very loosely.
i'm also experimenting with not fastening off when it's time to join a new colour every other row...i did some googling and watched some videos and i'm not going trying to carry the colours through. this will help with not having to weave ends in at the end.
i've been crocheting for like 20 years and i've always wondered how that was done.

In between sewing on the new living room valances and helping my husband install knotty pine, I somehow managed to work on my lapghan project. I'm down to two rounds left now! Although I may end up making another strip if there's enough yarn left. But either way, the end is in sight.

Just checking in to see what you all are working on. I've been plugging away at dishcloths when I find a quiet hour or so at night. I have a bunch of chores to do today and in between errands and chores I'm plugging away at #8 for my Gift Stash. I'm finding this Bernat Christmas skein is really BIG so I'm making some sort of plain-ish dishcloth squares in a mindless pattern to use it up. It was a 12oz. skein. When I get #8 done, I'll post current pics of my stash

Really, making these dishcloths is just a procrastination strategy because I haven't decided what to do about the afghan squares LOL!! But now that I've made some of these dishcloth squares, I'm thinking of taking y'all's advice about just creating this last Afghan Block# in a mindless pattern like the one I'm using for Dishcloth #8. It's easy and quick! If I can squeeze in some crochet time this afternoon, I might give it a shot and see what size the block turns out.3/26 Afghan #3: 58 done of 191 rows

I haven't done any crocheting for a while...want to start the ripple afghan that dc always makes but I want to finish my knitting projects first.
The other day I did score big though on the big cotton cones of Peaches and Cream yarn. At GW, there were 6 BRAND NEW, not an inch taken off the cones for .99 cents each. I have enough cotton yarn now to make many, many dishcloths!
The colors were... a solid red, a varigated purple, varigated yellow, a cream, a varigated spring colors and varigated orange and green (that I had never seen before).

Wow, how awesome is that?!? Good score on the yarn - I was just thinking how I would like to pick up a different kind of cotton yarn like a stripe or or variegated just to keep my interest. I am jealous!

Found some yarn at my local Michael's that I really liked. On sale too! It was $2 a skein rather the normal $5. I think the brand's Red Heart (either that or Caron). The color's called "Holly and Ivy" which means it's a verigated yarn in red and green. Looks really nice but the skeins are only 5 oz so that means it's going to take a lot of skeins to make the afgan. Good thing I'm keeping it for myself.
On the other hand, I did put a good dent in my stash. I ended up being able to put half the stash I had at my parents' place into the stash at my place. (The rest at my parents' I'm keeping for when I spend time over there since I do stop over at least once a week. And I use it for the projects for my mom's church ladies.)
As it stands, I'm working on a wool blanket for myself (still have a skein and a half to do on that one), a blanket for a friend (that's only about a quarter of the way done), and another that I'm probably about 3/4 of the way done. Not sure who that's going to go to but I'm sure there's probably one or two friends who wouldn't mind getting an afgan. And that's not including the one I picked up the new yarn for. I do have one that I started some time back that I'm currently not working on. Once I get a few of these others finished, I can pick that one back up. That's another stash-buster blanket with no current receipient in mind.

S - I really like the round red, white, and green ones. That's a nice stylish pattern.
You'll be really glad you have all these stashed away for gifts next Christmas.Donna
