I'm excited for the new year and setting new goals. As of January 1, I've been honing my new skills for a month

I set plans to make some crocheted gifts for the upcoming year - planning to make dishcloths for more people for Christmas and birthdays. I have the two afghans started; one is for my DS's girlfriend, the other I am not sure about yet. And I'd like to make a ripple afghan out of whatever yarn I have left over from the first two!
The only other plan I have so far is to make a scarf out of the beautiful brown Peruvian alpaca tweed I bought.
All of this will keep me busy for a while, I suppose

By the end of the day, I will have 20 lapghans started, planned to use up stash yarn, though I will have to buy an occasional skein to fill in, especially where more than one has the same color. I've tried, for the most part, to repeat colors I have several skeins of, but I will still have to buy some. Sometimes, only one shade would really work. I've planned most of these with variegated, and that pretty much defines what colors can be used with them.
I have no illusions that I will get these all made up, or even most of them, but they are ready to go, with assigned colors, so I feel more on top of my stash and that's a gain.
I have a lot of white that, as it turns out, I almost never use, so I'm starting a solid color ripple. It sounds weird, but one using the neat ripple pattern was posted over on crochetville, it is was really pretty, showing lots of texture. I would never have thought of that. It makes me think that the other two patterns I have always thought of as multi-color might work really well in solid colors. I have four skeins of the RH SS baby variegated - I going to start that in the spike pattern.
The corner to corner should also look good. I've always done that in reallly bright colors, because it seems so non-traditional, that traditional "homey" colors just don't feel right for it, to me. But it has a very pronounced basketweave texture that would show up well in a light color. When I inventory tonight, I think I'll see if I have enough of any candidate, though I don't think I do. I might have enough of the soft white.
So big plans. Using down the stash is the only crochet goal for the year.Donna

I finished a Snuggle today, so used up some more stash yarn.
And I worked on the lapghan for a Christmas gift. I wasn't too excited with that maroon/cream/tan color combo but it's really pretty made up. My husband likes it too and wants to keep it!

Forgot to mention, my husband took pity on me in my frustration and searched for the hummingbird cross stitch I want to use for my January challenge. He found it! So I'm all set to go with that, too. It's going to take a lot of work so I hope I can get it done.

I've done massive cross stitch in the past, but now my eyes get tired quickly on something as detailed as that and it's just too fiddly for my patience now. Anyway, I could never count and listen to an audiobook at the same time. At this point, the crocheting is less an end in itself than something to do with my hands while I listen.

I want to get some more cross stitch done before my eyes give out on me. There are actually two of these hummingbirds, and two more if I decide to do them, and the first two are on black fabric so I don't think I can work on them after dark. These are stash items too, so that's another reason I want to get them finished.

For Christmas, I made ponchos for my granddaughter.
A lady I work with wanted one for her daughter, too.
I made it for her and when she saw it, she wanted one for herself to match her daughter's.
I'm about halfway through - I'll post a picture soon.Jean

I too have cross stitch kits I want to try and work through this year to get them out of my stash. My eyes are slowing deteriorating and would like to finish them before I can't work on them anymore.
Nice your Dh found that kit for you SD!

I am going to do the same as Frugalfanny. I will try to get some things done, but will also read and hopefully be motivated to get more done.

I have not been able to do much with my hands due to an injury that caused carpel tunnel but I have decided that I need to do what I can when I can so I will be working on some afagans and dish clothes. I already have a dish cloth done it takes me forever to get some thing done but at least I'm trying. I liked to do more of a home made Christmas this year.
