Default New crochet call Crochet on the Double

I have just got into this crocheting. It's call crochet on the double. You use a crochet hook that has a hook on both ends. I am trying to work on a afghan. It is white on one side & multi color on the other side. If i ever get it done, I will put a picture up of it. I just like this crocheting, it's so different, but yet a lot the same.

Just to throw in my two cents worth, old thread or not, I tried this some years ago, and did not like it at all. I thought it was extremely slow, and at least with the pattern I was using, it came out so thick, to put it on your lap and not melt you would need to be sitting out in a blizzard. I gave it up quickly. Other projects with it might be better.

Thanks for the opinion on it, Donna, very helpful. My MIL gave me some patterns and the hooks for it but I have to say it didn't interest me much. Not only because I'm a beginner but because I didn't care for the patterns.
