ISO used knitting machine
I have been trying for awhile now to get the "winning bid" on used knitting machines at ebay for a used knitting machine. Simplicity Bond, Passap, etc. 100-200 needles. I know it seems cheap of me but I am hoping to keep the cost around $40, plus shipping. In useable condition, hopefully not missing or broken needles or other parts, and with a users manual I hope for it to be in a condition that i can use it right away. Anyone know of someone looking to get rid of one or see one cheap at a "tag sale"?

I am not looking for an electronic one, but a manual one. At Ebay i have found a few beginning around 20 dollars, but i have not had any luck bidding on them. They have gone up way more than I can afford.

Good luck Melissa.

You may have better luck with a Bond machine. They aren't nearly as expensive as the others. I have 2, a Bond and a Singer.
The Bond works with 2ply yarn and up to 4ply yarn, 100 needles. Brand new is around $100-$125. This is a fairly easy machine to work with. You can make just about anything you can hand knit with it.
My singer is pretty old, maybe 20 years, it has 200 needles and you use cone yarn that is only as thick as thread but you can use up to baby yarn, nothing heavier. It is not electronic or computerized but new 20 years ago, I think I paid around $1800 for it.~~ Dee ~~

Thanks for the tips!! Does the Bond need cone yarn? Do you enjoy using them?
And I have to ask, DH is calling me a knitting cheater... do you concider it cheating to use the machine?

Sorry you didn't get either one Melissa, keep trying.

No the Bond does not need cone yarn, just regular yarn you can buy anywhere. I use a 'wool winder' to wind up my skiens of yarn so the yarn flows freely. You go through yarn really fast with a machine and this was well worth getting. Yes I love both my machines!
No, it isn't cheating at all! You will be surprised how much you have to do by hand although everything goes so much faster and is always an even tension.
Here's a pic of the wool winder I have. This will wind a 3.5 oz skien in one piece.~~ Dee ~~
