    Question Yet another knitting question.

Sorry I keep bugging everyone with questions. Dh wants me to add elastic to his socks that I am making for him. He has had socks knit for him in the past, but they have always slouched, so he wants elastic added. He doesn't want them to slouch. (He even said the words "pretty please". How do I avoid slouchy socks?? Extra long ribbing? Or should I add elastic, and if so, how?

Melissa, you can get elastic by the spool, you may find it in the jewelry making supplies. It is very light and possibly clear. This type you can knit right along with your yarn. Hold 1 strand of yarn and 1 stand of elastic together, then knit.

Another type also comes on a spool and is thicker than the type above, I couldn't find it on the net, but it looks more like what you find if you look inside the top of a white tube sock. You can get this in most sewing stores in the notions dept. This type you would weave rows of it into the stitches with a darning needle after you are done knitting. You could also possibly knit this right into the pattern too holding 1 strand of yarn and 1 strand of elastic together.

Here's a pic of the first type. I was just reading up on it and it said that this is very strong elastic, invisible and will stretch up to 6 times it's length and recover!
