    Talking Needle arts projects updates

How is everyone doing?? I have gotten done ONE sock for dh. I did the pattern out of my head. I took elements I learned from other sock patterns and put them all together.

Here is my pattern i wrote down as I was working it.

Cast on 48 stitches (onto 3 needles) with main color (in this case aspen print)

    do K4, P4 ribbing for 8 or 8 1/2 inches.

    heel flap:
change to heel color (in this case grey) knit across needle 1. turn.
Row 1 sl 1 then purl across needle. turn
Row 2 (sl 1, k1) across needle. turn
repeat for 25 rows. end with a purl row, turn so rs is facing.

    turn heel.
    Row 1 sl 1 k across to last three sts, k2tog, k1
    Row 2 sl 1 p across to last three sts, p2tog p1
repeat rows until 14 sts remain on needle

    change yarn to main color

pick up 12 sts along side of heel flap, m1 in loop between heel flap and instep needle. k across or p across, piick up 12 sts along heel flap, making sure to have m1 in loop bet heel flap and instep. k around, knitting m1 st tog with last instep st.

Round 1 Work instep needle even. k 1, k2tog, knit to end of needle 2. k to last three sts on needle 3 k2tog, k1.

    Round 2 knit even

repeat. until heel needles have 12 sts

you should have needle 1 with 24 sts, needles 2 with 12 sts and needle 3 with 12 sts.

knit even for 8.5 in. begin toe decrease:

chance to toe yarn (in this case grey)

seperate instep needle (needle 1) onto two needles each with twelve sts.

knit to last three sts, k2tog, k1 on each needle all the way around all needles, continue in this manner until 4 sts remain on each needle. move sts to two needles 8 sts on each. make sure when you do this that the 8 sts on one needle are flat for the bottom of the foot and flat for the top of the foot. so that the toe will be shaped horizontally, not vertically.

    graft (Kitchener st) together

Now remember, i did this from bits and pieces i learned from other patterns so i may have mis written out my pattern, I am very very new. so i can't guarantee my notes accuracy. here's my pics of the results:

Hee hee, when the sock isn't being worn, it looks a little silly, because the leg part looks really skinny, and the foot part looks really wide, but it looks fine (at least to me) when it is on his foot.
