No, but it's the one craft I'd love to learn. My grandmother used to tat, but died before she had a chance to teach me. Couple that with the fact that I'm left handed- and I still can't manage to teach myself.

Nope, a friend of mine tried to teach me 25 years ago and I just couldn't do it. My fingers got all tangled up in the thread!

http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/A...2/tatting.htmlTatting is one of the gentle arts of Victorian times, an 18th century form of Needlework that originated in Europe, it is made with a thread and shuttle.
Here is a pic of a doily (I think?) done in tatting. It is done using a shuttle (pic to follow) and thread. You wind the thread around your hand in a certain way and then using the shuttle in your other hand go in an out of the thread on your first hand to make circles with little picots and loops. Sorry that isn't a very good description, but it is about all I remember.

Here is a pic of a shuttle. See the piece on the inside, it is a bobbin and hold the thread as you work. The thread comes out of both ends as you keep turning it as you work the loops and picots. Pretty confusing I know!

I am easily confused, LOL. And yep, I am confused now too, lol. I think somewhere here in the house I have directions in a "how to" book.
