    Default crocheted throw rugs?

Dee, I remember you mentioning you did some type of throw rugs or something for the floor. I would love to do something simple for the kitchen. Would I double or triple yarn to do it? What stitch do you use? dc? or did you do something more elaborate? Did you add a border or fringe? rectangle? round?

    I like this one.

Thank you for those links Sara! I need to make some new ones.

Yes I crochet all my throw rugs. I have done rectangle, oval and contour for in front of the toilet.

These were made using 'Crochet Pretty Posies Bath Set' #87P99 from Annie's Attic. I made these probably 8-10 years ago and I am getting sick of them! The rectangle and the contoured rug are still in great shape, but the oval with those 'posies' in the middle has stretched out terrible. These were made holding 2 strands of yarn together and a K hook.

My little guys thought I put them in the hallway just for them!

These are my kitchen rugs. I made the smaller ovals with a pattern. I'll look for it tomorrow. The big one I made up the pattern just following the smaller ones but started out with a much bigger chain in the center. The big one is 92"x24" and the smaller ones are 34"x24".

These were made holding 4 strands of yarn together and a Q hook. That big one was hot to work under and is so heavy that I only wash it by itself. When it gets wet I can barely pick it up.

I used all my scrap yarn for those. I can see it but noone else can. I used white and off white held together. Tip, don't use black as a solid like I did, I am constantly picking little pills off them. The red was fine, the black is a pain!

I have lots more, but they are all in the closet. We used to have hardwood floors all through the house so I made many rugs.

    Thanks girls.

Debbie it isn't hard, just different working with so many strands at once and those jumbo hooks. I forgot, the kitchen rugs are all done in single crochet (sc) the bathroom rugs are done mostly in double crochet (dc) and dc front posts.

Now when I make new ones I will either do something similar to the ovals again as they are holding thier shape really well. They have been washed and dried many, many times. Or I like the basket weave stitch for rugs, they really hold thier shape well too.

Your rugs are beautiful. I love the border on the rugs in the one pic. Very nice! I'd order the pattern, but am not quite that advanced yet.

I'm going to give the link I posted a whirl. It reads like I may actually get it. lol

I've been trying to find some practical projects to work on.

    I like these placemats too.

I have a crochet pattern somewhere here that has a loop stitch on it, to make a fluffy rug...gotta find it.

How do you back the rugs to keep them from sliding, and people from slipping?

I don't Melissa, but it is just Jack and I, no little kids about. Besides if I did that my cats would loose thier favorite toy! They hide everything under them including themselves!

You can get a roll of non-skid stuff at the dollar store. Cut it to the length you need and put it under them. This can also be used for chair cushions that won't stay in place.

I like that set Sara, very pretty! Sounds easy enough too.

Yeah it is sort of a ruffle too, I thought you only meant the color.

These aren't really hard Sara, except the oval one was a pain. If you can read a pattern, you could make this set.

The leaflet has patterns for a hand towel, bar soap cover, boutique tissue cover, tieback, tank set , seat cover, countour rug, tissue cover, cleanser can cover, wall decoration, oval rug, and facial tissue cover. I made most everything except the hand towel, the decoration, tieback and cleanser can cover.

If you want I can send you a copy of the leaflet. I don't think you can get this one anymore, it is too old. I looked on http://www.anniesattic.com and couldn't find it.
