taking a beginner's crochet class
Our local yarn/material shop has a beginner's crochet class. They hold 3 classes (2 hrs each). I'm hoping that it's fun. The owner says the group usually branches into their own crochet group in between classes at her store, so I am hoping I can meet some fun people.
I'm definitely a beginner, but I hope this class isn't going to be one hour of making a chain and another hour of selecting yarn. kwim?
We'll see and I'll share about it when I get back tonight. I'm thrilled that it's from 7-9pm. Perfect hours for me to have some time to myself and do something I really enjoy. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. I'm pretty excited about it. If I ever get off my butt and get a machine, they have quilting classes too. Quilting is so huge here. There are so many classes and there's a fiber arts guild. I have got to get a machine sometime.
I wish the fiber arts guild did crochet, but they are knitters. I might try knitting again. I could do basic stitches in knit years ago, but haven't tried in yrs.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. You know, I found knitting much easier to learn than crocheting. Although I'm enjoying the crocheting, I think I like knitting better. Of course, nothing beats quilting though.

I'm back from my first crochet class and it was great! The two hours flew right by. It's a basic class that goes through the basic stitches and I am so glad I decided to go.
There are only 5 of us there and it was nice because we're all just starting out.
They all knit and I don't, but that's ok. I may try the beginner's knitting class. lol
My main reason for being so happy is that I already learned some mistakes that I was making. I knew that I had some troubles working into the last and right first stitches. It only took her to show me and I feel so great about it. That alone was worth it.
The store is only 2 minutes from home and it was so nice to just get out. I haven't done anything besides shopping alone since having Alexandra.
There aren't any crochet groups here really, but tons of knitting groups. I've been thinking it would be nice to try knitting and then get into a group. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. Sounds like a lot of fun! I would love to do that. I know our local quilting store (which I LOVE) has begginners knitting, tatting and smocking classes. I just never have gotten there for it.
