If so, are you finding it relaxing? And what are you making?03-18-2004, 09:51 AM #3
Oh yes, yes, yes I have! The other night I was having a "poor me" feeling bad night. While I was cleaning my closets I came across more of my crochet and knitting needles and decided to just start. I came down to the computer, pulled up your tutorial Dee and started. I sat here for ages just crocheting away. I've got to the double crochet. I guess it takes awhile to get the right tension. Sometimes I think I am crocheting too loose and then I get it so tight I can hardly get the hook through....
I'm not really making anything yet, just row after row.....lol!....today I want to look further into the granny squares. My cousin crochets and she makes LONG rows of double or triple crochet in different colours and then puts them together for an afghan and they look pretty.
Yes, I find it very relaxing...I like the fact that I can just pick it up and do a row or two when I want. I take it when I drive Dylan around for his paper route, I like the fact that it IS so relaxing and that I'm accomplishing something even though I'm sitting, kwim? Also, this may sound corny but I feel really good about myself while crocheting......I'm making something with my own hands, being productive and I can just dream away.
Thanks so much Dee for the tutorial, I really don't think I would have picked this up again if it weren't for you! ((HUGS))Sponsored Links Remove Advertisements03-18-2004, 10:26 AM #4
I know what you mean about being able to do it in the car. The other night when I bought my yarn for my afghan we were on our way to the casino (DH's little vice, he is good about only spending a set amount and usually comes out with more than he takes in) so I bought a set of new hooks so that I could crochet while he was in the casino. I made him park under the light and I just took my cell phone and when I was ready to go back to the car, I just gave him a call (the casino is usually too crowded to even get down the isles to talk to him) and off I went to the car to crochet. There are lots of security in the parking lot so it was perfectly safe and I had lots of light from the big overhead parking lot light and I was just happy as a little clam.
