Made My FIRST SOCK!!!
I am sooooo proud of myself. I only unravelled 2x, cursed a lot, and bored everyone in hearing distance from me talk about how I was making it. It's done!!! and it looks like a sock. (okay, I made another one first, but it was really reallly wonky so i unravelled it, this is the first USEABLE sock)
I'm oging to cast on and start it's mate immediately!!!!

Next you can learn to knit two at a time on two circular needles and then comes the "magic loop" on one long circular

hey, thanks for all the encouragement.....
just to add to the gloating of a newbie knitter... the only thing I'd ever knit before was a scarf. But I figured if I could knit a scarf, i could knit a sock. I'm almost done it's mate!
two at a time? daisy, are you nuts? That sounds like a horrible accident waiting to happen. A girl could get impaled!!!
Forestdale: It's easy to be intimidated by the whole sock thing with it's millions of needles (kind of like knitting with a porcupine) but really, it's easier than you think. Even the magic 'heel turning' is pretty basic and makes a lot of sense once you do it. As long as you don't cry when you have to unravel, you'll be fine. (I kinda needed some tissue around for my unravelling)
hopefully by late january I'll be able to post pictures (we dont' have a digital and we have to send any photos we take off island for developing - it's a process)
maybe I'll start my own website.... maybe I'll start giving classes... socks for ALLLLLLL!!!! It's a revolution.....

Ah Babs, that's the beauty of knitting on 1 long circular needle, you only have two points to knit with. No porcupines!

WTG Babs! I like the way you think. Revolution by knitting.

Congrats on your first sock and soon your first pair. I still haven't taken the plunge and tried knitting. Although in weather like we are having here, it sure makes me wanna snuggle up with some warm yarn and try.
