Fiesta Afghan

Size: approx 52" x 67".

Materials: Worsted-weight yarn Wintuk® (100% Acrilan Acrylic; 3.5 oz skein) by Caron: (Use in following color sequence) 2 skeins Lt. Aqua; 1 skein Aqua; 1 skein Lt. Yellow; 2 skeins Yellow; 1 skein Lt. Peach; 1 skein Peach; 2 skeins Lt. Rose; 1 skein Rose; 1 skein Lt. Lilac; 2 skeins Lilac; 1 skein Lt. Blue; 1 skein Blue. Crochet hook size H/5 or size needed to obtain Gauge.

Gauge: In pat, 32 sts (one rep) = 6-1/2"; 9 rows = 5". To save time, take time to check your gauge.

Special Stitches


Treble-Split (tr-spl): Work 1 tr in stitch, then 1 dc through 2 threads at side of tr.
Treble-Y (tr-Y): Work 1 tr in stitch, ch 1, then 1 dc through 2 threads at side of tr in same manner as tr-spl.
Treble decrease (tr dec): Work 1 tr in st until 2 lps rem on hook, yo hook twice and work 1 tr in next st until 3 lps rem on hook, yo hook and pull through all 3 lps.
Post half double crochet (post hdc): Work 1 hdc around post of next st.
Notes


Work in back loop of sts unless otherwise stated.
Work all rows with Right Side Facing, joining yarn at beg and fastening off at end of each row. Crochet over cut ends of previous row to avoid weaving in later.

Rep from * across, end with tr in last st. Fasten off.
Rep Rows 1-3 working one row in each color listed, then rep total color sequence 9 more times, end with Row 2.


Tassels (make 4)
Cut a 6" wide x 8" long piece of cardboard. With one strand of each color together (12 total), wrap around 8" length of cardboard 15 times. With a 12" strand, tie top of tassel tightly together, leaving ends for sewing. Cut strands at bottom edge. Wrap a 30" strand of yarn tightly around tassel 5 times approx. 2" from top. Fasten securely. Trim ends evenly. Sew top of tassel to each corner of afghan. Steam lightly.
