What kind of needles or hook do you use.
I have always used aluminum (metal) hooks and needles but I am thinking about investing in some wooden or bamboo ones.
What kind do you use and why? Do you have a specific brand that you like?

I posted something similar last year. (hoping to see how others liked the wooden types) I'm considering some wooden hooks too. I've seen some beauties on ebay.
I use aluminum now and have also bought the plastic hooks and didn't like them one bit.
I like Susan Bates.

I've tried Susan Bates and I don't mind the knitting needles but I find the crochet hooks are a bit too square on the hook.
I've never tried plastic.

I prefer aluminum because that's what my mother used.
however, i've used plastic & wood before.
it's all a matter of personal preference.
with kids / dog around... no plastic!!!
(kid's like to drum w/needles! LoL)
and the wood ones... well, as a gift yrs ago, an old boyfriend made me a crochet hook - as he was going to trade school for carpentry... it was a neat gift... but he never lacquered it! LOLOL
the wood ones are nice... a bit pricier, but they're not as "hard" on your hands/fingers as the aluminum.

I have some plastic knitting and plastic crochet hooks...and i love them for the bright colors and such, but i am afraid of breaking them. I would like to try bamboo knitting needles.

I have some plastic hooks and hate them - I broke one in the middle of a project. I have one wooden hook which I love! I saw some in one catalog that had a wider grip and I would love to try them, but they are so expensive. In the meantime, I use my one wooden and the rest aluminum.

i used the boyle metal hooks. they are what are readily available here. the smaller ones are hard for me to grasp sometimes because of my carpal tunnel, but otherwise, no complaints about them.

I prefer aluminum hooks, mainly because my hands sweat and these wash and dry great. Also, it is really the only type I have ever used. I have never tried wooden or bone and you can keep the plastic ones. Although 2 that I have are plastic, size N and Q. I dislike Boye’s hooks and only buy Susan Bates.
