    Default Yarn Recall

I used a bunch of this in fuzzy scarves! I don't know how I am supposed to check and see if it is the recalled number or not - sheesh! I guess I'll just tell everyone not to smoke or get around an open flame while wearing them!

CPSC, Bernat Yarn Announce Recall of “Fur Out” Yarn

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Spin Rite LP of Ontario, Canada, is voluntarily recalling About 730,000 1.75-ounce balls of "Fur Out" yarn . “Fur Out” yarn is flammable when used as the sole yarn in a garment. Garments constructed of “Fur Out” yarn are dangerously flammable when exposed to a flame, posing a burn risk to consumers.

I have never heard of a yarn recall, but this is scary, especially if you made a scarf for a child! I have a few skiens of Bernat too, but not sure if they are Fur Out or not. I'll have to check.

    Thanks for the info Cheryl!

I guess I'll have to double check mine. My mother made a bunch of those scarves for people, and I bought her yarn for Christmas. This really stinks!!

I mean, isn't yarn flammable anyway? I just told everyone I made one for about the recall. Most just said they would stay away from open flames!

I have used some Bernat yarn but not that particular one. I would think that any yarn would be flammable but maybe this one is more so

I would guess because of the 'furry' aspect of it, might make it more flammable than usual?

I don't think that was is because it was only certain UPC codes not all of the fun fur yarn.
