    Talking Knifty Knitter Scarves

Finally me and Ryan were able to take our quik knit class. The loom is made by a company called Knifty Knitters. The lady teaching the class got them from Provo Crafts. They are sold at Michaels and A.C. Moore but so far our JoAnns and Walmart do not carry them. They make round looms and the rectangle loom. The round one will make hats and socks. We only have the rectangle one. We took the class from 12 - 2 on Saturday and by Sunday night we each had finished 2 scarves and were starting on 2 more. Ryan is with me at work today which explains the office background.

Here is Ryan modeling her scarf. Ours are made using eyelash yarn and homespun yarn. You weave (knit) both at the same time.

The scarves are very soft and feel wonderful against your skin. I think I found a new business!

BTW I look huge in this picture! Blame in on the Girl Scout Cookes!

Last one I promise. You can make them as wide as the loom and as long as you want too. Ryan made hers using 5 pegs and I made mine using 7 pegs. I think it's a good width for each of us. Now I want to get the round loom and make hats.

We worked on them off and on from Saturday afternoon until Sunday evening. If you sat down and really pushed, you could probably do them in about 3-4 hours or so but your hands would be really tired.

How much yarn did it take to make each scarf?

You don't look huge. Next to me, you'd look skinny!

My scarf took 1 and about 1/3 skeins of the eyelash yarn and slightly less than 1/2 a skein of the homespun yarn.

Ryan's took a little less than 1 skein of eyelash and about 1/3 of a skein of homespun yarn.

I want to get the round looms! Next time I'm in a Michaels I will be getting them. Glad to hear you can make a poncho. I'm hoping they come with instructions on how to make them.

Yikes!! I just saw that part of my post didn't go through. Make two large rectangles the same size, then attatch the bottom of one to the bottom side of the other panel. Now do the reverse with the other ends. There are KK yahoo groups with lots of ideas and different stitches you can do. Have fun!
